Their skin is pulled tight over sinewy muscle and covered in scars, and she struggles not to gasp at the intimidating picture they make. “See to it that she’s trained,” her new king barks, “She will be made lead huntress.” The older lionesses bow their heads in acknowledgment before the king turns to leave.
