"Horizon was your name as a child, and Mesa Red was the one who brought you into this pride. As you learn to take her place, so your name shall echo hers: Horizon Red."
Retired
Horizon Red takes still care of cubs, but doesn't train them. She’s often near the main dens, watching the cubs and keeping them safe. She's available for any pregnant lionesses to consult with. She's like a second mother to many of the lions who were born and raised in the pride.
Personality
Horizon Red is very confident in herself, and she doesn't doubt decisions she makes, though she often deliberates on them. She's a thoughtful and introspective lioness, and she's very fond of other lions. She's sociable and adores being around other lions, very trusting and willing to see the best in others. She loves helping others, and is only too happy to do them favors. She especially looks after those younger than her, and is very focused on finding good homes for them. She's energetic and loves to be doing things, always playing with the cubs and full of ideas for activities. She's close with her family and still visits them often, and when she makes friends she keeps them. She's a little insecure about her looks, and a little shy about romance.
Background
Horizon was the blessed daughter of the queen Nephthys, and when she was just a baby her mother called kings and queens from around the lands to come and see her. She was to choose a pride of her own once she got old enough. She spent many of her days with the kindly rulers who spent their time teaching her, talking to her, and looking after her. Two such lions were Mesa Red and Sweet William. Mesa grew close with Horizon's pride, and Will with her broodmother, Harvest. When the time came for Horizon to pick prides for her and her sisters, she chose to join Will and Mesa's pride. She already admired Mesa, and so when Mesa asked her to train as the new broodmother, Horizon was eager to learn.
How do you feel about Monarch?
"Monarch isn't really here very often, and I'm alright with that. The rest of the lions here are my real pride. Monarch isn't important to me, and I joined this pride too late to really have much opinion on him."
Who is your favorite lion?
"Two lions came to visit me almost every day when I was a cub. They're both dead now, but I'll never forget Mesa Red and Sweet William."
Who is your least favorite lion?
"I wouldn't ever choose a lion to be my least favorite, or put anyone down. I've met a lot of lions, some nicer than others, but all I want for myself is for me to always stay a nice lion."
