Dewy padded through the course grasslands as quietly as possible, her clouded gaze fixed on the small gazelle ahead of her. Her stomach grumbled at the sight of what she hoped to be her next meal, her ribs showing through her matted pelt. She sunk into a crouch, creeping ever so closer to the clueless creature.
Closer to the prey now, she prepared to leap, kneading the ground with her claws, seconds before she was going to pounce, a adolescent male lion suddenly appeared in her path, swiftly finishing the prey off. Dewy froze, fear rushing through her as the male raised his head, sniffing at the air, then staring deadset at where she was hiding in the thick stems. The male didn't seem aggressive though, instead letting out a low purr, like he was inviting her to come out.
So come out she did, and tentatively Dewy stepped out from her cover, warily looking the male lion up and down, the male just looked back at her, and he finally broke the silence with a quiet voice, "I'm Polaris." he said, dipping his head, "I am a submale of a nearby pride. I think our king would be enjoyed to meet you. What is your name? What pride do you come from? I can introduce you to him."
Dewy listened, considering Polaris's offer, he didn't seem like a threat right now, so she replied, "I'm Dewy," she said hesitantly, "and I'm a loner, I live with no pride." Polaris just blinked, and he dragged the gazelle carcass a little further into the grass, hiding it from other carnivores and scavengers, "Okay then." He said after finishing, "Follow me." The adolescent turned around, leading the way through the course stalks. After a bit, they emerged in a small clearing, a tumbling cub tripping over her paws, "Sorry!" It squeaked before scampering back to it's mother. Dewy's eyes were drawn to a large lion in the center of the clearing- it must be the king, it showed in the way he held his head, tall and proud. When his gaze rested on her, interest sparked in his eyes, and he rose to his paws to greet the pretty young lioness, his warm gaze comforting in this new place, "Hello there, newcomer." The king purred as he walked up to her, "My name is Scorpion, and who may you be?"
