After Mgando had checked the outlands, she made it to the heart of the Kiburi Pride. There, she noticed her daughter was sprawled out; Sarafu appeared content surrounded by the rays of sunlight. Mgando warily approached, remembering Sarafu didn’t exactly enjoy the company of others. However, it had been months since Mgando had properly spoken to her daughter. She felt quite ashamed of herself as a mother that she hadn’t even noticed Sarafu had grown into an adult.
“Sarafu?” Mgando called out from a distance, making Sarafu known of her presence beforehand. The peaceful close-eyed look on Sarafu’s face dropped as she took one look at Mgando. “Hello mother,” Sarafu addressed Mgando and curled inwards before pulling herself up into a sitting stance, “is there any reason why you’re here?”
Mgando winced. There didn’t have to be a reason for greeting her daughter. But this time, there was one. “Well, I’ve noticed you’ve grown into the huntress I always knew you could be.” Sarafu nodded matter-of-factly, turning her face away to focus her attention on the golden bracelets around her wrists that reflected the sun’s golden glows. “That’s true. Today exactly.” Mgando could see Sarafu was itching to say more, perhaps a snide comment that Mgando didn’t even know Sarafu well enough to say if she was a good huntress or not. Despite that, Sarafu stayed silent. She shifted her paws in the ground, occasionally scraping her claws into the dirt.
At last, Mgando began once more, “I’m proud of you, Sarafu.” With great effort, she continued, “I know your mother would be too.” The topic of Sarafu’s mother – Kwaheri – was never a delicate matter for the young lioness. Sarafu simply didn’t know Kwaheri well enough to grow any sort of attachment to her before she left. Mgando often wondered if that was why Sarafu turned out so evasive. The snarkier cubs teased her because of her mother’s departure, much to Mgando’s disapproval. Mgando always tried to bring Kwaheri up in conversations with Sarafu, however scarce they were. This time, Mgando saw something within Sarafu. Was it curiosity?
Sarafu raised a paw to her mouth and began cleaning her claws. “I must prepare for my first hunt. I should go now.”
Mgando frowned, she wanted to have a proper chat with Sarafu. “Of course, good luck.” With that, Sarafu was swiftly on her way, without looking back at her mother once.

You went up to Sarafu to ask how hunting practice went today. She instead told you all about a cool bird she saw on the way. You guess she doesn't really want to talk about it. Ah well.
As you two greet each other, Sarafu moves away when you get too close. You try to approach her again, and she begrudgingly accepts the friendly nuzzle you offer her. She looks a bit bothered about it, though.
