Retired Queen, mate to Rego ❤️
Kona is Baridi’s daughter, she comes to the Kalahari Pride as a youngster, a VERY mischievous little girl who can’t wait to boss around all the other cubs of the pride.
She swiftly makes friends with most of the young lionesses her age, but her favorite companion is Prince Rego. She’s forever practicing her pouncing on his tail or stalking him to the waterhole only to push him in! When Baridi tells her she’s going to be a big sister, Kona is not for it. She distances herself from her mother and the three brats when they arrive, and spends even more time with Rego. As they blossom into adulthood friendship starts to turn into something else…
Kona also has a friendly rivalry with Akili, the two are both superb hunters. While Kona is bigger and stronger due to her primal blood, Akili is ferocious and as smart as they come, making her the natural at strategy. The two are on the same hunting party, and Kona, to her utter horror, is the godmother to Akili’s first litter.
To her surprise, one of her little sisters grows up to be just as fluffy as she is, though not as big. Kitenzi grows a partial mane as an adult, and Kona has to admit she looks like a badass.
Kona falls in love with Prince Rego, and makes sure he survives the coup that kills his father. She muscles him over the border to the Hidden Valley Pride, and between her and King Wema, they turn Rego into a deadly warrior.
She and Rego have four litters together, a total of eight cubs. They lose their first son, Chaka, when he challenges his father for the crown and won’t back down when defeated.Chaka’s lust for power consumed him, and he went so far as to threaten to harm his sister Zora if he wasn’t crowned immediately. Heartsick, Rego was forced to kill the young lion to protect his pride.
After Chaka, Kona bears only daughters for years, and counts herself blessed. In her final litter, one of the three cubs is a boy. Kanu, the Prince of the Kalahari. Kona is terrified, but loves him as fiercely as all her other cubs, and is relieved to see so much kindness in him.
When Kona turns 14, her husband is able to convince her to retire from the hunting party, but she absolutely REFUSES to move into the elder’s cave until Rego goes with her. While he’s king, she’s queen, and she won’t retire.
(When all her friends move to the elder’s cave she gets lonely and relents. Grumpily.)

2. Kanu ~ male, melanism, kept.
3. Mdadisi ~ female, folded ears, kept.
~You settle down to munch a nice, fat, gerbil. Or....not. Kona nyoomed over, grabbed it, and nyoomed away. Awwww...
~As you pass by after typical greeting, Kona watches your butt carefully only to bite it and run away! Oww. 3x
~You couldn't help but wonder why everyone seemed to be snickering at you today. Is there something on your face? Kona looks a little too innocent. 4x
~You went up to munch more on a carcass you started eating yesterday. As you bite in, a spider suddenly scurried out of a hole in it! You heard Kona cackle nearby. Thanks for the heart attack.
~You walk by the sleeping Kona unsuspectingly, when she sticks out one paw in front of yours. You trip and fall on your snout. Yikes!
