Cordyline [,kɔːrdɪ'laɪnɪ] is a genus of woody plants which notably includes cabbage trees and palm lilies (as well as their variants such as the forest and mountain cabbage trees) which are frequently cultivated by humans for decorative reasons. Specifically, the palm lily (cordyline fruticosa) is also called the ti plant. This cub's mom was named after the well-known group of flowering plants camellia. The flowers in this genus are widely referred to by that name, but the genus also encompasses other plants including camellia sinensis, which is much more commonly known as the tea plant (or tea shrub, or tea tree, although that last one is a bit misleading). Since her name is the genus name for the tea plant, and the stud is named after a type of tree, I decided her cub's name would be the genus name for the ti plant. G2! (This is Camellia's last litter, and last chance to yield a cub worth keeping, so...)
