Shauku means ‘passion’ or ‘enthusiasm’, a good name for Adea’s sweet youngest child. Shauku wa born with peculiar folded ears, but on the few occasions he was teased for them, the insults just rolled right off his back and soon the other cubs grew bored with him not reacting.
Nyara and her brother Shauku’s birth marks the end of Adea’s ambition to bear a ferus child. Her children are perfect, she would not change anything about any one of them. She can’t believe it took her so long to figure that out.
Shauku actually left the pride when he turned two, but before the month was out he ran into Daze, who had decided to leave and start a pride of his own. With Daze gone, there was a position available on his grandfather’s guard, and Shauku rushed home to claim it. Now, he will do everything he can to prove he is worthy of it.
Shauku’s best friend is his cousin Illiyopambwa. The two became very close when Illiyopambwa was held captive in the Kalahari Pride by the Usurper King Mruki. Illiyo and Shauku got used to patrolling together and watching each other’s backs. Honestly? They are way more like boyfriends than friends, but they keep it on the down low because they’re related. The two visit eachother’s pride’s whenever they can, and send lots of messages back and forth.
As he approaches retirement, Shauku moves across the border to the Hidden Valley Pride, to be with Iliyo. They marry soon after, and spend the rest of their days happily guarding the pride together.
~You are enjoying a walk with Shauku, when they suddenly dive forward shouting NUTRIENTS! Oh no. No! Don't eat those nutrients! SPIT IT OUT!
~Shauku is rolling all over you and chewing on your fur. You kind of want to murder something, but you hold it in. This cub is great. This is your cub. Happy cub is good. Yup.
~You bring a grasshopper to Shauku, and they are delighted. You relax and watch them pounce after it, until they finally manage to catch it and munch it. Good cub!
~You were going on about how you had totally owned that hyena earlier, when you realize Shauku wasn't even listening. Or... maybe he couldn't hear you? 3x
~Shauku whined about how his ears were itching on the inside. Perhaps it is time for another dust bath. 2x
~When approaching to greet everyone today, you managed to step on Shauku's paw. He decided to treat it as a tussle invitation which turned into a partial cuddle.
~While sharing a meal with the pride, some pride mates begin joking about Shauku's silly cub shenanigans. He laughs alongside everyone, and shares even more embarrassing stories! 2x
~You sit down with Shauku and apologize for snarling at him last night, you were just so stressed and tired. He sits next to you and shrugs while saying he didn't even notice. 2x
