CloudyDay woke up, the rays of the sun tickling his nose. He stretched out his little paws and yawned, revealing a mouthful of tiny, sharp teeth. The air was crisp and filled with the scent of greenery and flowers. As he looked around, he spotted two male lions standing at the base of a large tree, gazing up at the massive branches . They were both young - one had a scar over on his face and the other had a missing ear. Something about them made CloudyDay feel safe and secure. He let out a tiny mew, and the lions immediately bounded over to him, concerned that such a small cub was left all alone.
Finn, the lion with the scar, nuzzled him gently, "Oh, you poor thing. You must have gotten separated from your family. Don't worry, though. You're safe with us now." He glanced over at Lakota, the other lion, who nodded in agreement.
Lakota, with a missing ear, crouched down next to them and extended a paw, inviting CloudyDay to explore. The little cub hesitantly took a step forward, his tiny paws padding softly on the ground. He sniffed at Lakota's ear, then looked up at Finn with a questioning expression. Finn chuckled, "That's Lakota's battle scar. He got into a fight with another lion when he was younger."
As they continued to play and explore together, CloudyDay felt more and more at home with the two male lions. Finn shared stories of his adventures as a traveler, talking about the different lands he had seen and the many animals he had met along the way. Lakota, on the other hand, preferred to keep things simple, enjoying the quiet moments of solitude and the beauty of their surroundings. But there was no denying the bond that had formed between the three of them.
One day, as they were resting under the shade of a large tree, CloudyDay pointed at a distant hill and asked, "What's over there?" Finn smiled at the cub's curiosity and replied, "Well, that's where I'm headed next. There's a special place I want to show you." Lakota, who had been listening quietly, perked up at this news. He looked at Finn with a mix of anticipation and worry in his eyes.
The journey to the distant hill was long and arduous, but CloudyDay didn't seem to mind. He bounded along beside Finn, taking in the sights and sounds of the vast savannah. As they neared their destination, the terrain became more rugged and the air grew cooler. Eventually, they reached the top of a steep hill, and there before them lay a beautiful valley, teeming with life.
Finn surveyed the landscape with a proud smile. "This is it, CloudyDay. This is what I want to show you." He gestured toward the view. "This is the world."
Cloudyday squinted his eyes, trying to see the end "Its so big!"
Finn smiled "It is. Thats why I wanted to be a traveler. To explore it."
Cloudyday looks at Finn, tilting his head "Why arent you still a traveler?"
Finn looked at Cloudyday "Lakota needs me. I have to stay here with him. But hopefully.. one day, I'll convince him to come with me."
Cloudyday looked back at the view, watching a herd of zebras peacefully grazing, "I want to be a traveler just like you."
----Time Skip----
As the morning sun cast a warm, golden glow over the dense jungle canopy, Cloudyday bounded through the lush undergrowth with unbridled joy and freedom. His long, powerful legs propelled him effortlessly over fallen logs and through narrow passageways, as his sharp claws expertly navigated the treacherous terrain. The crisp morning air filled his lungs, and the exhilarating sensation of the wind rushing past his mane made him feel truly alive. For a brief moment, Cloudyday forgot about the fear and sadness that he would have to face leaving his pride.
He finally came to a clearing where his parents, Lakota and Finn, waited for him. They lookedat him, their ears pricked with curiosity. Cloudyday stopped in front of them, gathering the courage to speak his heart. "Lakota, Finn," he began, "I must tell you something that has been weighing heavily on my mind for some time now."
Lakota, his father, lowered his head in anticipation. "What is it, Cloudy?" Lakota asked.
Cloudyday took a deep breath, steeling himself for their reaction. "Finn's told me there is more to see beyond these trees, more adventures to be had, more knowledge to gain," he began. "Im old enough and I wish to leave our pride and become a traveler, to explore the world and make my own mark upon it."
Lakota and Finn exchanged a glance, their expressions a mix of pride and sadness. "We understand your desire for freedom and growth, Cloudyday," Lakota said gently. "It is a natural urge for any young lion." He paused, his gaze meeting his son's. "But the world beyond these trees is not always as it seems. There are dangers and challenges that you cannot yet fathom. And should you find yourself in need, you must understand that you will always have a home here, with your family."
Finn stepped forward, his voice soft and reassuring. "We will miss you, Cloudy, more than you can possibly know. But we will support you in your journey, and we will always be proud of the lion you are becoming." He nudged him affectionately with his head, his yellow eyes shining with unshed tears.
Cloudyday felt a lump form in his throat as he looked into their wise, loving faces. He knew that leaving would be the hardest thing he'd ever done, but he also knew that he couldn't deny who he was or what he felt deep down inside. With a heavy heart, he turned and ran into the dark jungle. But all the sadness began to fade and was replaced by excitement. He jumped past his territories border, as far as he ever got away from home.
A pink pigeon flew above him, one just like his fathers, and he stopped, gazing back at his home. He lifted his head up and roared. He smiled as he heard his parents roar back and he knew he made the right decision.
