Biography
“Hello. So you’ve come to visit, have you? Don’t look so surprised, everyone comes here eventually. And if not to me, then another. I am the Bonekeeper, first of my line and keeper of the records. My allegiance is to none but my work, the gods, and the ancestors.”

“What did I mean by first of my line? Well, if you think I’m the only Bonekeeper out there you’d be sorely mistaken! I’m only one of many to have discarded my name for my role; one I will pass to one of my daughters, who will in turn pass it on to one of hers, you get the idea. In this way, our work never dies, even as we ourselves do.”

“Hmm? The nature reserve? Yes, I carry their records too. I didn’t use to, but their old Bonekeeper, err…well…”

The Bonekeeper winces.

“Rabies. Her old den is sealed, we won’t be able to access those records until we can be sure the last of the virus has died out. In the meantime, since she had no daughters interested in their late mother’s calling, I’m the one holding their records until they can either find another Bonekeeper willing to move to the reserve or decide to just make the change permanent.”

“So, are you here to look up the name of a lion long past? Or here to ask for the name of your own loved one to be recorded for eternity?”
