Lore:

One paw in one world, one paw in another. This is what Eliza’s father said of her upon her birth. With her reddish star-speckled coat, swaths of void-dark, and strips of sheer white, she resembled the evening sky’s transition into night. She remembers the jaguars calling her “Little Dusk.” She remembers the scent of marula fruit. She remembers being carried for miles through twisting maze-like paths to the base of a tree. Back then, she did not know that she was left there to die. The strange, irreplicable journey through the woods was meant to confuse her so that she could not return. While her abandonment left her with many unhealed wounds, she has come to realize that in the end, it was all for the best. If her jaguar father had kept her, what sort of life would she have? There were no females amongst his pack to raise her. The males would not have cared much to have a cub running about while they were trying to hunt and cavort. No– it was best for her to move on. Now, she has a family, a place to call her own, and pridemates who adore her. Now, thanks to the kindness of Queen AceTh, she knows where she truly belongs.

On the third night of her abandonment, Eliza was starving. She had hidden herself amongst the tree’s roots, hoping that no hyenas or wild dogs would find her. She shivered, worried that the grumbling of her stomach would give her away. When she heard the sure footsteps of a nearby predator, she cowered in fear. She was about to be eaten– she was certain of it! From the shadows emerged a lioness as white as snow. Her fur was so clean and pure, it looked like it was glowing. Long whiskers dangled from her snout. Her eyes glimmered bright as sapphires, save for the third in the center of her forehead. That one was ruby red. With her horns and feathered wings, she resembled an angel. Perhaps that was what made Eliza trust her. She scrambled out into the being’s path and whimpered, “H-hello! Do you know where there’s water?”

Queen AceTh glanced down at the quivering cub. Her gaze softened with pity. Despite her intimidating stature, she is a gentle leader. She has great empathy for those less fortunate than herself.

“Come with me,” she murmured. “I will find you some water. And something to eat, as well.”

Eliza eagerly followed the stranger through the jungle, sticking close by like a tiny russet shadow. She didn’t say much, but she watched the lionesses’ confident movements. She tried to mimic them herself and ended up tripping over her own paws. Eventually, they made it to the Queen’s pridelands. The tiny jaglion was taken to a broodmother, fed, watered, and cleaned. She fell asleep curled up against another feline’s soft fur for the first time in her entire life. When she awoke the next morning, she begged the lions to let her stay.

Queen AceTh smiled and nuzzled her tiny head. “I was hoping you would ask. Yes, little one. Of course you can stay.”

The pride named her ‘Eliza’ because of her joyful temperament. To this day, Eliza is quick to crack a joke, cheer up a crying cub, or brighten someone’s day with a smile. She ensures that every lion in the pride feels welcome. Whenever Queen AceTh brings home an orphaned cub or prideless stranger, Eliza is the first to greet them. She wants to shower everyone with the same kindness she was given by her Queen– the kindness that ended up saving her life. She adores caring for younger lions and is an excellent mentor, especially to those who are initially timid or frightened. Her gentle patience and mirthful attitude helps cubs transform from shy youngsters into confident adults. She lets them know that it’s all right to be scared, but that there is nothing to be afraid of here. The others will take good care of them– especially Queen AceTh. She is kinder than any lion Eliza has ever met.

Due to her rocky past, Eliza is unable to stray far from the pridelands. She becomes incredibly nervous if she loses sight of her home. Because of this, she is unable to hunt, but nobody faults her for it. They know where she came from. Her pridemates are always so gentle with her. To ensure that she is still helpful, she helps out with tasks around the dens– tidying up, organizing hoards, that sort of thing. The nests in AceTh’s lands are pristine no matter how many cubs live there, thanks to Eliza’s hard work. There are never any toys littered about or discarded in the dust. Stray sticks and pebbles are nonexistent. She even sweeps away dust and clears out cobwebs. She never accepts any praise for her diligence. “It’s the least I can do,” she explains, “for the lions who take such good care of me.”

The one skill Eliza lacks is the ability to fight. She was never very interested in studying combat and didn’t care much for tussling as a cub. She knows it’s a necessary skill to have and has even taken martial arts lessons with some of the huntresses. It’s just very difficult to learn something she doesn’t like very much. She tends to goof around instead of studying her instructor’s forms and is immediately knocked off her feet. She’ll get back up and try again, easy as anything, but nothing ever seems to stick. It’s hard to stay frustrated with Eliza. She’s so easygoing and cheerful. This is the only reason why she hasn’t been kicked out of her classes yet. That, and she often brings gifts to her teacher: feathers, flowers, and other trinkets. That’s just the kind of lion she is. She couldn’t hurt a fly, but her love for her chosen family is strong. Eliza feels safe here. She doesn’t wake up trembling anymore. She is no longer split between two worlds, but is forever tethered to a space of comfort and joy. She is certain that the lions around her will look after her for the rest of her life.

Lore pt2:
Eliza, a young lioness born of AceTh's creation long before AceTH's reign within this pride. A lovechild of a unique union, Eliza carries the grace of her Jaguar and lion lineage in her flowing coat. The warmth of the sunrise dances on her fur, and grounds her to her gentle and trusting nature, a gift passed down from her divine parent, AceTH. Though Eliza has always followed the wisdom of her parents instincts, she cannot help but wonder why she was not chosen as the future heir to lead the pride. Her heart, however, remains unburdened by doubt, for she trusts deeply in AceTH's decisions and the fate that guides her family. Calm and collected, Eliza moves through life with a relaxed demeanor, ever patient, watching the horizon with quiet wonder and a growing sense of purpose, knowing that her role in the pride will reveal itself when the time is right. Her mixed heritage grounds her in the balance of nature, and she remains ever faithful to the pride’s journey under the rule of AceTH.
