Indigo gave a confused look to Seca as he saw her litter of cubs. Two of them were normal-looking, one with bigger teeth, but that was about it. The third, however, was snuh-white and pink. Its eyes were already open, and they were a clouded pink as well. Seca curled her tail around her cubs protectively, ears twitching at Indigo’s reaction. She had expected it—how could she not, when one of her babies looked so… unnatural? Still, the look stung a little. “I know,” she said, voice steady. “She’s different.” She glanced down at the tiny, pale thing pressed against her belly, its thin fur barely concealing the soft pink of its skin. “But she’s mine.” The lioness's tongue rasped over the cub’s head in a slow lick, aiming to comfort its tiny mewls. “The ancestors must’ve had their reasons,” she murmured. “Or maybe she’s just unlucky.”
