Backstory:
Maroon, “Liège Buttsmack”, took over peacefully after Ash passed on. Ash had picked Maroon as heir very early in her leadership, as she was upset by her father’s ignorance to the thought of being replaced.

Maroon is a loyal and bright lion, always doing the best they can for everyone, all while knowing her limits. She’ll light up a room, or a cave in this scenario, just by walking in. They do their absolute best to settle any fight or disagreement peacefully, she’s even come to a truce, (and somewhat of a friendship), with a pack of spotted hyenas!

Maroon also saved the link between The Arcadia Pride and The Lost Pride. When Ash was still leader, she married the leader of The Lost Pride, Vŭlk. When Ash passed, Vŭlk was heartbroken, and nearly cut off the two prides’ link, just so she didn’t have to face the harsh truth. Maroon was able to convince Vŭlk that the prides’ unity was beyond important, not just for easy sharing of resources, but also to cherish the memories she had with her wife.
