Clean Personality/facts (Koena's reign): Koena plans for Sand to be his heir. Sand's adoptive sister is Snark, and his adoptive brother is Terran. Sand's white eye and cheek scars were gained during accidents while play-fighting with Koena. The cheek scar was a reasonably mild scrape. Koena apologized and Sand healed quickly. Koena felt terrible about the eye, but Sand shrugged it off and commented that it made him look handsomer. Text (Koena's reign): Sand is spread out in a dark corner, brooding intently. Your lionesses are looking at him, tittering and giggling. You have the sudden urge to swat him. You have some trouble finding Sand to ask him to watch a cub for a few minutes. No seriously, is he off staring at the stars again? Sand's reign: After a long and successful career as king, Koena decided it was time for him to retire and to spend his old age with the pride. He asked Sand if he was still sure he wanted to be king, and Sand said yes. There was doubt in Koena's eyes at first, but it disappeared when he saw that Sand was as willing now to take his role as he was when Koena first chose him. Sand stepped forward, and Koena touched his forehead as king one last time. The warmth radiating off of him told Sand that Koena saw him not only as a son, but as the true king. Sand knew Koena would always be there, and he could go to the old king whenever he needed advice. They took a visit to the shamans' pool, where Sand closed his eyes and meditated. There was a strange feeling as he inhaled the scent of incense, and he opened his eyes to see that his reflection appeared younger. As Koena had predicted, becoming king would de-age him. Sand glanced at Koena for reassurance, and tested his newly youthful muscles. He and Snark had talked about this. His sister would continue to age without him as normal. But she agreed to the decision for Sand to be king. She told him she wanted this, and so he told Koena he would not step down as heir. Sand knew he and his sister would stay close regardless. Now, he was king of the pride. King Sand.
