Redtuft, after being driven from his former pride upon reaching maturity, set out in search of a place to start his own. He was bullied by a troupe of prideless lions he hung around with, but Cleverstrike was always there to defend him. Soon they set out to find a territory of their own, coming across Stormseer and Sungaze, two sisters who had recently lost their male and needed a new one to defend against hyenas, dogs, and most dangerous, humans.
