Serin greets you with warmth, purring as he bumps his forehead against your own. "It's nice to see you, dear friend," his voice rumbles sweetly. "-but I do wonder why you visit." --STORY--Before Inheriting The Pride-- "Deidren." "Yes, sir?" Deidren answers obediently, looking up at the massive primal lion that speaks to him. It's early morning, and he'd just finished yawning before his first patrol. "How many years have you served our pride?" "Seven years today, sir." It's true. He's spent seven years under Serin's paw, tending to his needs and protecting their territory- following orders, running errands. It's been a good life so far, even if it's been a busy one. Serin huffs, his pointed ears flicking as he thinks. It's hard to tell what's going on in his head, without much of a tail to watch. Deidren assumes it would be thrashing if he had one. His own tail twitches, tucked behind himself patiently. Finally, finally, the leader speaks again. "It's been a long time," he starts, settling onto his haunches and looking down at Deidren with a flat expression. "You're dedicated to the pride's well-being?" "Yes, sir." The leader's front paws slide out in front of himself, lying down partway. He's much closer to Deidren's height like this. Deidren is by no means a small lion, but Serin certainly makes him feel like one. "Finish today's patrols, then return to me this evening, after our final meal for the night. Bring Harley as well." "Of course, sir." What could he have planned? Serin isn't old, not yet. He couldn't possibly be- No. No, he shouldn't be thinking of that so soon. Serin is still the strongest, most capable lion to lead, and there could be any number of reasons a leader would ask his subordinates to meet with him on the anniversary of their arrival. It's probably just a small gift, of some sort. Tokens of appreciation for their service. Right? Right?
