" Calypso bulbosa, commonly called Fairy Slipper, has a circumboreal distribution; in North America, it is found across Canada from Alaska to Newfoundland and in the northeastern and western United States. It produces a solitary basal leaf in the autumn which senesces soon after flowering. A solitary flower (rarely 2) is produced in the late spring, usually pink, magenta, or white, with a pouch-like labellum that can be spotted with contrasting colors such as yellow. Its lateral petals and sepals spread distinctively outwards. In most of North America, it is found in wet coniferous or mixed forests and bogs; in the northwest, it is found in drier, shady coniferous forests."

Calypso's name is both derived from the plant explained above, and heavily carries from the Anicent Greek ฮบฮฑฮปฯฯฯฯ (kalyptล), meaning "to cover", "to conceal", or "to hide". She also shares this name with a water nymph from Homer's Odyssey :D
Pride Lore
Cursed to forever wander through the foreign worlds and time periods not her own, this once revered knight travels endlessly in search of her one true home. Over time she gained followers and outcasts not unlike herself- those scorned and defeated enough to march with her into the unknown. She's no monarch, but she took up the helm of leader for them out of obligation to those entrusting her regardless. In doing so, she was forced to further shed her original purpose as nothing more than a mere paladin and ascend further into the power forced upon her. The exposures to such distant planes and existences take their toll with time, as her mind has begun to fragment and her body in the process of rapid mutation.
During downtime, she and her ladies occupy a small in-between sort of dimension, treating it as a makeshift territory. While she herself can open it at will, she cannot stop it from randomly opening entry points in other timelines at random intervals- this causes an occasional influx of passerbys to wander through before eventually fading back to their proper realms.
