King of the Jungle

The watering hole is bustling as always. You make your appearance so that everyone knows you are the king of the territory. However, everyone continues to bustle instead of paying attention to your arrival. Insulted you listen in carefully to decide what to do. "...quite charming" "I heard he has a mane like the sunset!" Clearly, they are talking about someone else. "Such a merciful king, I can't believe he just showed up out of the blue" Your ego hurt, you pridefully stride over to one of the groups. "Who are you talking about, in MY territory?" A small swallow, looks up at you and stutters "y-your majesty! We-we were just gossiping!" You growl as a signal to explain further. "There i-is a new king in a close by territory, he's said to be merciful to animals in need and hu-human's." You huff, who ever this "king" is must be making quite a impression if rumors have spread out to your own territory.

Kurtis is a young male who grew up on a preservation after his mother was killed in a pride slaughter. Kurtis's full name is Kurtis Burtis as called lovingly by the preservation workers. When he was released he vowed to be as merciful but just as those who saved him. Not just to his pride but to those in his territory.
