Lovette’s Backstory

Lovette was just a cub when poachers had attacked her pride. Her mother managed to get her hidden away, before she herself was killed by the poachers. Lovette was the only one left after the poachers ravished the pride. She had remained hidden hours after the poachers left, until a pack of wolves had wandered into the land to scavenge what was left of the pride. One young she-wolf amongst the pack, noticed something moving by a bush. Curious, she crept over to investigate. She successfully crept up behind the little animal, who seemed to be watching the wolves cautiously but curiously.
The she-wolf had misstepped and snapped a twig, scaring the creature, who in return let out an adorable little yowl of warning after flipping around. The she-wolf layed down to show she meant no harm and watched the cub curiously to see what it would do. The little cub held its ground for a few minutes before curiously sniffing at the air. Seemingly, the cubs curiosity got the better of it as it took slow steps coming closer to the she-wolf. The she-wolf whose name was, Rieka, liked this adorable cub. She has a fire in her eyes though she's so small. Rieka decided that she would take this cub and raise her as her own and grabbed the cub in her mouth by the scruff of its neck before following the rest of the pack home.
When they reached the pack lands Rieka quickly took the cub to her den excited to show her mate and pups what she'd brought. It was a good thing Rieka had just weaned her pups so she still had milk coming in as she wasn't sure if the cub was old enough for red meat yet. Her mate wasn't very enthusiastic about the idea of raising a lion cub as their own, but he didn't argue with his mate. Their 2 pups were very curious about the new little animal. The 3 cautiously sniffed at each other before the older male of the 2 pups, Kiba, initiated play with a bow and yip. Kiba and the cub began a playful tussle, while the younger female pup, Layla, shyly watched.
Rieka decided on a name for the cub as she watched it play with Kiba. Kiba was given his name because of how protective he is of his younger sibling. Kiba means protection or shelter. Layla was given her name by her father who thought it would be funny to give her a name opposing her color. Layla means night or dark, while Layla herself is snow white in color. Rieka decided that Lovette was a fitting name because it means wolf cub. Being that she is a cub joining a wolf family.
Lovette had grown very well within the small family of wolves. She and her brother Kiba had taken up being protective of their younger sister, Layla who is shy but very caring and kind to a fault. She fit in well with the wolves, acting more wolf than lion now. Lovette and her siblings, now old enough to join the hunting parties, have been learning how to properly hunt. Surprisingly the other wolves of the pack took having a lion amongst them very well. But that may have been because she not only has started to gap her siblings in height but is very capable of taking down their usual pack effort animal, by herself. So the pack has been doing very well since her coming of age.
Lovette and her 2 siblings had wandered off together to enjoy their new freedoms. They had a steady sibling chatter going when Kiba caught a scent. It smelled familiar but he couldn't place it. Suddenly a young male lion pounced on Lovette. She managed to kick him off only for Kiba to take a quick nip at the lion and then stand protectively in front of Lovette and Layla growling low in warning. Kiba realized why the scent was familiar. It was similar to Lovettes when their mom first brought her home. Lovette barely smelled lion anymore, which seemed to confuse this young male lion. He paced back and forth in front of the three siblings, before suddenly pouncing again. This time Lovette was ready for him. Kiba and Layla watched in worry as Lovette and the male lion went swing for swing. Kiba kept wanting to jump in to help his sister, but was rather terrified of her at the moment though he'd never admit it. He had never seen her look as fiercely as she did right now.
The fighting and roaring suddenly stopped and the 2 siblings froze, waiting to see who would emerge. Suddenly they see Lovette’s blood covered snout, panting with her tongue hanging out all wolfishly. The 2 ran to check on their sister. Layla licks the wounds on her sister as gently as she can while Kiba checks the male lion and finds his throat covered in blood. Seems his sister got the upper hand. He looks at her proudly but once again terrified of his sister's strength.
It seems that the young male lion was not just any male lion, as he was a successor to a strong king. When the King had been told his son was found killed by what was scented as both wolf and lion, he demanded the culprit be found and brought to him. But the King was more curious about how a wolf-lion could come to be and how it was strong enough to kill his son, who was well trained and due to take over the pride in a few weeks. When the King had word that his trackers had scented the wolf-lion to a wolf pack just a few paces from were his son was killed, he demanded word with the pack Alpha. When the King was face to face with the Alpha he demanded to know who the wolf-lion was that had killed his successor. The Alpha sent his Beta to retrieve Lovette only for him to come back with not just Lovette but her parents and siblings in tow.
The King was surprised to see it was no wolf-lion but a young lioness and found himself at a loss for words. Rieka, Lovette’s wolf mother, noticed the lion King's confusion and began explaining how she found Lovette and raised her as her own alongside her other pups. Kiba stepped in afterwards and explained what had happened with the young male lion. The King was very amused by this. His son, who was not only one of the strongest lions he had, but was a very egotistical lion and thought only of himself rather than the kingdom. He knew he wouldn't have been a very good leader for the pride because of it. Now this lioness on the other hand, who managed to kill his highly trained son to protect her wolf siblings, might just be a better fit.
The King and Alpha had a very long discussion about the wolf-lion Lovette and the Alpha finally agreed that if Lovette so wished it, she could go with this King and train to become his new successor as she had killed his original. Lovette was very curious about lions ever since her mother explained that she was not a wolf. She also didn't want to leave her family behind but desperately wanted to know more about lions.
Soooo… naturally her 2 siblings came with her. They were also curious to learn more about their sister and what differences there are between the 2 species aside from build. They had all just come of age to freely wander the territory anyway, so why not take advantage and learn more about their sister. Their parents stayed behind as Rieka was with pup again and her mate would definitely not let her leave pack lands in her state. The mixed family gave each other their goodbyes and left with the King. Not that they gave him much of a choice. After all, He needed a successor and Lovette wouldn't leave without her siblings.
