Suddenly, the wind picked up around Cupid and her cubs. She held them closer, sheltering them from the wind. Her old mentor, a long-since-passed lioness named Clementia appeared before her. The wind died down and all that could be heard were the breaths of her newborn cubs.
"I've come to bless your cubs." Clementia touched her nose to Cupid's. Cupid stared on in shock. Bless her cubs? What could that possibly mean?
"I've been given a vision of your son. A vision in which he led our pride to glory! ... I come bearing a gift for him. A blessing."
And with those words, the winds began to swirl around Cupid and her litter once more. Cupid, snapping out of her shock, reached her paw out towards Clementia, begging her to stay a little longer.
"I cannot stay in this realm any longer, but I will always be watching over you and your cubs, guiding their paw steps."
And then she was gone.

The next night, Cupid laid down to rest, cuddling her cubs close. Suddenly, the earth grew quiet. No crickets, no breeze, nothing. From the tall grass in front of her, Cupid could see a sparkling shape moving gracefully through the grass. She called out to the figure and received no answer.
Suddenly, an old pride member strutted out from the tall grass. Deva was humming a sweet but haunting melody. Her fur was that of an ever-shifting galaxy. Cupid could see stars explode and die and new stars form and glow. Deva was beautiful.
"I've come to bless your son with the gift of beauty." She was much more straightforward than Clementia was. "He needs not to have any help already, but this blessing will just enhance his appearance." Deva was always vain in life, so it didn't surprise Cupid to hear her words.

Although Cupid was expecting at least one more pride mate from the beyond, she was shocked to see the old king. Their stature was tall and mighty, yet their eyes were soft and kind.
"I've come bearing one final blessing to your son." The mighty primal lay down next to Cupid. They smiled, watching Splendidis wake up and look at the larger lion with curiosity. "I bless you with the wisdom of your predecessors, and may you bless them with this wisdom too."
"Who are you?" Cupid heard stories of a fiery primal ruler, but never heard his name.
"My name is SilverSand."
