Spoilers from call of duty Modern warfare 3
4 years ago: Captain Price, soap, Ghost, and shepherd succeded in capturing Makarov.
Present day: With the help of Andrei and the Konni group, Makarov is able to successfully escape the gulag where he meets up with the rest of the Konni and starts his plan to bring glory to Russia..
Makarovs backstory:
Makarov became corrupted when his mentor Imran Zakhaev awarded him power for saving him. Ordered Khaled Al-Asad to detonate a nuclear warhead which levelled an entire city that killed both Al-Asad's soldiers and 30,000 U.S. Marines, the latter of which caused General Shepherd to lose his mind.
What did Makarov do next?
This drove Makarov to form his own group of Ultranationalists who were loyal to him, and he vowed to take revenge on the 'traitors' and the Western world by triggering a full-scale war between the United States and Russia, working with the traitorous Lt. Gen Shepherd.
Is Makarov evil?
Vladimir Makarov is really not as evil as everyone says he is. While I won't deny his actions, he's not trying to bring chaos upon all of mankind or destroy the world. Makarov is more of an idealist angry about the U.S. trying to police worldly affairs through their hypocritical & needless agendas.
Why did Makarov kill yuri?
When Yuri learned about Makarov's plans to conduct a massacre at Zakhaev International Airport, Yuri attempted to stop it by alerting the FSB. However, Makarov learned about Yuri's betrayal and shot him in the process, leaving him for dead.
What does the term "no russian" mean?
The mission's title comes from directions given to the player character just before the mission begins: "Remember, no Russian." This order is meant to remind members of the terrorist cell to maintain their anonymity by not speaking their native language while participating in the shooting.
