'Yo - tok - ko'
Title: Lord
'Long live the Lord, gatherer of knowledge and slayer of dissenters.'
' ' Embrace it, then. Embrace the scathing burn of your doing, your creation, you hypocritical fool. ' '
' ' The reign of the suns has ended, with my rule the Jade comets will scrape the sky once more! ' '

Smells like: hay and mud.
Vc: the rattling of chimes in the wind, a chuckling river throwing itself against the banks, grinding bones and teeth cursed to know it all and never be able to speak it.
Lord Yottoko, formerly a rejected non-blood, rose to the top until he was trained by the Duchess herself. Abandoned on the sandy plains the non-blood found fascination in the true stories of the gods, discovering myth after myth as he absorbed himself in his studies, making allies with the locals and eventually finding his way into the claws of the Desert wanderers.
Disgusted by his appearance he was first clawed and spat at with the same ferocity they'd use on an intruding hyena, chasing him into the wooded pines that would soon become his sanctuary.
Between those same pines, etched into the very rocks he lay on, an old prophecy had been written, and would soon come to surface.
[PROPHECY IS A.. WORK IN PROGRESS]
Forced to lay in the swamps and lick his wounds, Yottoko was justifiably horrified when the scaled face of an ancient beast peered at him from the water's surface. Its golden eyes shone with curiosity that mirrored his own, and he had dared to step towards it. If this creature had been any other god the young lord would have been snapped dead in an instant, never to fulfill the prophecy weaved so delicately in the past. But it wasn't any other god. it was Hoentah, soon to be his greatest ally.
Yottoko quickly grew to trust the god, bonding over shared goals and morals. He told him about the Desert wanderers, how they'd chased him into the swamps in fear of his appearance, and Hoentah was furious. He swept the lion onto his back and brought him to the desert wanderers, who were horrified by the sudden invasion of what they thought were demonic cryptids.
It took a lot of talking on Yottoko's end - Hoentah just watched by his side, snapping his teeth to whoever so much as looked at him the wrong way - but eventually Mona Vi'aratha came out of her cave to see what all the noise was about.
The look on her face upon seeing them was something Yottoko remembered fondly, a mix of surprise and confusion as she looked over the odd lion and the similarly odd god. Thankfully the Duchess was used to strange guests and managed to greet them after a moment of staring.
She was intrigued by his ability to befriend a god, a deity usually seen as higher and much more significant than the desert lions, and was quick to question him.
Not a moon later he was named heir to the throne. Mona Vi'aratha admired how forgiving he was, not exacting revenge on the lions who'd attacked him many sunhighs ago, and was confident he, along with his blue-blooded companion, would protect the pride to the best of their abilities.
And what of Hoentah? He became Yottoko's right hand man. Most of the pride were still wary of him, and the desert gods didn't like him that much, seeing him as a lesser god since he wasn't native to the deserts like they were. Fortunately for him he was spared from Akala's wrath since Nirīkhaka took a liking to him and his stories of other territories. nobody, not even Akala, would dare kill an ally of Nirīkhaka.
Despite everything being relatively peaceful in the pride, Hoentah still didn't forgive the desert lions for harming his friend. He didn't want any more harm to come to him. So, manifesting the last of his god-given magic, he blessed Yottoko with an extra sense, allowing him to predict every attack coming his way. He'd never be caught off guard again.
Unlike the past leaders Yottoko doesn't have any linkings to the Elder gods, belonging to neither side in the great war. He prefers to stay neutral and study until he has enough information to reasonably "pick a side".
(LORE IS A WIP, MAYBE? MIGHT ADD MORE, MIGHT REWRITE IT.)
Yottoko facts:
-The skull mask isn't a mask, that's just his face :3
-Avid enjoyer of snails. In his free time he'll go into the forest outside of the territories just to find some.
-He still visits the swamp he met Hoentah in! Only this time its willingly. He goes there with his runes and paper and studies pride history, from the creation of the territory itself to the little tales written between the lines of the main story.
-He has some primal genes, making him a little bigger than the typical lion with a small ruff around his neck.
-Yottoko is capable of making a variety of un-lion like noises, which include purring, meowing and chirping. While this -does- raise suspicions over the Lord's true species nobody really cares enough to look into it.
- Hoentah is his closest friend. A little too close, if you ask me. But his wife seems to be fine with it.
- Yottoko's canonical mother is the moon herself. He had no cubhood, no birth, he just turned up. His father? No such thing, he ain't got no dad
- The pride originally attacked him because they mistook him for The Wisp, another skull faced entity and moonchild, who only appears before a great disaster.
