Biography
Ivan is, and always will be, a very lofty, greater-than-thou character. During cubhood (where he knew he would become king one day) he was stubbornly of the opinion that he was far superior to the former king, Gazer of the Stars, because he was a piebald (considered almost holy in Gazer’s eyes) and born from a different king. This came to be because Gazer of the Stars was never forceful about who his lionesses mated with, and Howler of Night, a gentle soul, chose to pick another king as her momentary partner. This was the only excuse Ivan needed to become intensely cocky, and, due to Gazer’s calm, allowing nature, this was never resolved. Gazer was a firm believer that the stars knew what they were doing, so Ivan’s role as heir never changed. Alouette, a long-suffering sub-male and Gazer’s companion of many years, was the only one to see through Ivan’s cloud of superiority. Alouette was - pre Ivan’s birth - of the opinion that he would become king, and for a while that was true. But upon Ivan’s arrival and Gazer’s obvious choice being made, Alouette sunk into a pit of seething jealousy. He lives in hatred of Ivan, plotting the day he can overcome and eventually kill the young king, and take over the pride he has looked after for so long.
