Born to a lone lioness in a rocky den, Sunrin and his mother shared many struggles living on their own. She had been chased away from her pride after it was taken over by another male, and was forced to give birth alone in a hard, rocky den which she lined with the pelts of whatever prey she managed to take down on her own.
They didn't eat too fell, at first. Sunrin's mother would go out for hours at a time and come back with maybe a few meerkats and an occasional dik dik, eating what she could so she could nurse her single cub. When Sunrin was old enough to eat meat, it was even more challenging.
Soon, Sunrin and his mother would go out together, hunting as a team. They still didn't bring down too much, but it was enough for two lions. They stayed together until his mother died from an injury sustained while taking down an elephant calf. From then on, Sunrin wandered until he found territory of his own to build his own pride on.
Always trying to play the hero, Sunrin patrols his territory relentlessly, defending his pride from any threats that may come their way. Poachers, boerboels, hyenas, even enemy lions. Nothing will stand between him and the safety of his lionesses.
Occasionally, he'll run into the odd lion cub that doesn't belong to his pride. On this occasion, his inner cub comes out, as he never had anyone to play with while he lived with his mom, and he'll frolic with the young lion until a member of that cub's pride finds them. He will then take his leave and be on his way, sometimes with the cub's aunt in tow.
Poachers are absolutely not tolerated on his land. Any humans he finds killing off prey animals and other predators he shares his territory with will be swiftly taken down.
