Pantomath, the Protector

Born a nameless cub to a large pride, Pan left to travel alone. He sought to gain valuable experience and learn from the world around him, and for a while held the belief that having a pride of his own would only hold him back. He took the name "Pantomath" in arrogance, thinking that it suited one who sought to know everything there was to know. However, it only highlighted the cold fact that he truly didn't know much at all.

Being born of the recently revived ancient primal lions had made him a target for poachers, and he fell into a trap set for him during his travels. It was thanks to Smoke discovering him in the nick of time that he was rescued. Pan was allowed to rest within Smoke's territory and recover, to which Pan was very grateful.

As the days went by, Pan was finally able to learn beyond fleeting observations, and began to notice a discrepancy between the way Smoke behaved and the image he put on to the rest of the kingdom. Smoke had built up good karma with others, and yet would be nothing but cruel and vicious to his own pride members. One night, Pan challenged Smoke for his territory and pride. After a brief battle between the two, Pan came out on top and forced Smoke to submit. Though the older lion took his loss with bitter acceptance, he warned that Pan would always be alone.

Those words haunt Pan.
