After a rather long reign, King Nyuki still had no heir to the pride. His Queen, Munira Fjord Wolf, and his lionesses knew he was soft and a little lazy, but they never expected he would put off finding a successor. Like a miracle, High Priest-King Moonlit Dawn happened across the pride as King Nyuki was ready to retire. Feeding off of the pride's religious nature, he told them stories of how he slayed demons alongside nephelines and angels. When the pride told him of their first leader, Intisar, who was said to be sent to them from the heavens themselves, he told them he had met him, and that he still lived among the stars. The pride was amazed and enamored with the strong, noble lion. They believed him; after all how else would he get those long scars if not from a sword? Or how would he wear armor decorated with angel's wings? King Nyuki had no choice but to name him his heir.
What the pride did not know is that High Priest-King Moonlit Dawn was the bastard son of a highly religious King who trained him to be a healer and prophet for his pride, and when he did not show promise upon adulthood, he cast him out to fight in his holy wars as a foot soldier instead. His true name was Eletan, meaning "deceiver" in his native tongue. Once he learned to properly defend himself, the lion fled his army and spent his days travelling as far as he could from his father's lands. Until no one knew who he was. He lied and stole and cheated everyone he met, but for some reason he could never convince them to make him heir to the pride. Until now.
After King Nyuki retired, Moonlit Dawn was officially named High Priest-King of the pride. He slowly begun to introduce new religious rules and regulations for his subjects to follow. This was difficult for the lionesses who had grown used to King Nyuki's indifference for their behavior. However, those who stood up to their new King soon learned he was one to be both respected and feared. Rather than choosing a new Queen after Munira Fjord Wolf's death, he decided to name a High Huntress and a High Defender, saying that it was his royal duty to show love to everyone, not just a single Queen. (In reality, the lion was much more inclined to show affection to fellow males than females, and he only mated to sire cubs.) As a High Priest-King, he also had to remain a pacifist, so he could not fight or hunt any longer.
Once his predecessor passed away, Moonlit Dawn decided it was time to move on to land that was easier to be fortified. Word had begun to spread that a warrior of the light had inherited Nyuki's pride, and he had to prepare for if his father decided to find him or even attack his borders. He told the pride that the heavens had commanded him to find higher ground to be closer to them, and so they migrated high into the mountains to their new-found holy land. The pride has adjusted rather well to the new land, but some rebels have not adjusted to Moonlit Dawn's strict way of ruling over them.
