Once upon a time, there lived a benevolent ruler of a pride who’s name has been lost to time. What is remembered are merely stories passed down from mouth to ear. Tales of joy and prosperity, of lavish green forests and prancing lions, of just actions, of loyalty and brotherhood mark the walls of old caverns. Skulls surrounded by flourishing flora decorate the scratched floor. Other lions make weekly visits to the land of the Old King, making sure his subjects remains are treated with care, though his remain lost.
Stories about an angry Godling coming across the Old Kings land have lead many to believe he met an untimely demise at the hands of fire and ash. This lines up with the Great Fire that swept through the lands many many hundreds of years ago.
Blackened skies cut across the savannah. Humans and animals alike ran for cover as black snuh rained down from above; killing whatever it touched. Lion-kind looked to the Haven for salvation, but received nothing but silence and dancing flames.
The Old King welcomed displaced lions of every kind into his home, then one night, he walked through the flames and faded into nothing more than a blurry memory. He left behind his cubs, though none grew up to take their fathers place. Grief was said to choke the remaining life out of his pride.
