The kingdom of half-dead lions resides before you.
It is a wonder you made it here at all, everything is either dry or barren, but just faintly you can hear the trickle of water.
It's glacier ice melt, pouring into a chilling pool of water.
The water is sacred, protected, and untouched by the death that surrounds it.
A pool of crystal clear water lies in the rock, with hidden currents through the mountain of this kingdom. The pool is surrounded by golden grass, and rock, on a wide ledge of the mountain.
Hawks swirl above you, unnerving... as if you were about to become a corpse to feast on.
Looking at this camp now, beyond the crystal water is a ledge covered in pelts to make it slightly comfortable. It is where, you can tell, that the workers must enjoy their hard days. They do not get much, but at least they can look down on the lions below them.
The lions fighting below them, blood spatters on the golden grass in a makeshift arena.
As if it were a vision, you can hear their mantras.
"Patience, Patience, Patience."
"Violence, Violence, Violence."
"Death, Death, Death."
You shake away the horrid screams, and turn your sight, wondering if you should even stay here.
There is a grove, near the edge but not too close. It has comfortable nests, decked with feathers and furs that must have taken much searching of these barren lands here.
It must be a nursery.. not a very safe nursery. You can imagine a cub falling off the edge and crashing into the stones below, or a hawk swooping down.
It's as if, they know they cannot survive in big numbers here with little prey, but to save the weak hearts of nursing lionesses... well.
You look finally, at a bark-less tree. It is stripped to a sun bleached white wood, and bones lay under it. It is a tree perch fit for the elders of this place.
and there is nothing more to say of this place of death.. you should go on, and spare your life.
