Kaitou*Kidd's Den

A grassy knoll backing up to a sturdy, solitary tree on an otherwise barren patch of the savannah. A young male lion sits relaxed in the shade of the sparse branches above; his demenor is relaxed as his eyes lazily sweep the land around him. The oppressive heat of midday turns the horrizon into a shimmering, shifting sea of wavering convection currents, but other than that, no life stirs.

Nearby, a few young cubs awkwardly tussle with one another. Although it may not appear as if they're paying much attention, the tiny cubs are closely watched by a couple of lionesses who are lounging nearby. Sprawled out on their sides in a patch of shade-cooled sand, their ears slowly twitch and swivel, following the cubs' antics as drowsy eyes narrow contentedly.

These females and their cubs may be at peace, for they are safe in the presence of their young leader. Despite his age, strong, lean muscles stretch beneath his pale, sandy pelt and fading scars mark the tales of his progress and growth. In the distance, a small troupe of older lionesses approach at an easy lope. They have returned unsuccessful this time, but the pride has eaten recently, and there is still time in the day to try again.
