Vashira's Den

A large lion rests in the shade of a large savannah tree, licking his maw from his last meal. He is the owner of these lands. Bean walks up to him: she is his pride and joy, the heiress to his females, the strongest of the pride, even if her short stature is prime target for poking fun. Nuna is waning, as the eldest of the pride, she remembers the prime of her life, when the pride was ruled by another. Her strength is outmatched by the younger lioness. But she does not mind: they all love Bean.

Requin keeps his favorites near, but he does not forget even the outcasts. His kindness forces him to interact with them, to give them food, even as he waits to trade them off to another pride. He views it as mercy: giving these lions and lionesses a small space all their own before they either go to their forever home or to death. At least they wont be wandering prideless and starving.

A new shadow looms, this one a bumbling cub in Requin's eyes. It's Atahalin, a king in the making. He will inherit the pride, even he knows this. But he treats the lion before him as a respected father regardless. He rests beside the the primal king, his own coat shining. He is a strong and rare lion and so Requin allows it. He looks upon the ghost of an old lion that rests contentedly a bit away from the females: the old king, Chahala was the owner of the pride before him. A noble lion he was, one Requin looks to as a parental figure. He will do his best to keep the pride great and mighty like the lion before him.

But now he has passed and Atahalin has taken up the mantle. He wants to be like his father, he swears it. He will take care of the pride, like the kings before him.
