The Malikane Pride
The Malikane Pride's territory is nestled deep in the Mabira Forest, where rulers are chosen by their long-deceased ancestors to lead. Often, the future royal is born with clairvoyance, and an uncanny ability to draw lions into their innate sense of power and elegance. The ancestors of the Malikane Pride choose an heir when the floodpits are at their highest, with each pride member lined along the muddy bank. The waves crest the paws of the appointed, and purify the new leader in preparation for their new role.

The current leader of the Malikane Pride is a powerful druid named Faven. Many of its members are born into the pride, but regularly welcome travellers and loners alike. Faven's pride is notorious for its deep connection to the land and their ancestors, earning them a reputation as "backwards lunatics." Despite this, the pride remains unbothered by others, who although think lowly of the pride, fear crossing their dead.

Faven spends majority of his time deep in the Mabira Forest, reading the omens hidden between the gnarled roots of trees. He mostly prefers his own company, save for his vipers Sadiki and Nyoka. Rulers of the Malikane pride are chosen by the ancestors to rule, and Faven caught the ancestor’s attention after performing the kimya ritual, an act of sewing the mouth shut to strengthen the bond between oneself and the ancestors. This practice disregards the need to use vocal communication of the mortal vessel any longer. Faven rules his pride with mute authority, displaying his ideal qualities as a leader in actions rather than words. Lions and other creatures alike seek his company, comforted by his rituals that promise safety and prosperity.
