King: rules the pride
Deputy/Heir: the next in line to be king. He assists the King by patrolling the territory and by keeping everyone in check. The heir also helps defend the territory from invaders. He is in charge of distributing task for the day. The Deputy decides who hunts and where they hunt.
Queens: Queens are in charge of the Kits. They care for the young as broodmothers as their mothers are out hunting for the pride.
RANKS:
A rank is giving to all in the pride. You can tell a lions rank by the name following the first. For example RavenPaw is a Paw, FireKit is a Kit, BraveHeart or LittleWing are Warriors, and BlueStar is a king/leader. This system comes from the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter.
Kit: a young cub younger than 5 month. These cubs remain close to the den and under the watchful eyes of the their mothers (or broodmothers). They will have the Name Kit at the end of their name for example they would be called BranchKit, RavenKit, or FireKit.
Paw: A cub 5 months and older. A Paw is in training to be a warrior to help protect and feed the pride. They often do the chores no one wants like cleaning the dens or taking care of the elders ticks. The name Paw would be at the end of their names. For example they would be Branchpaw, RavenPaw, or FirePaw.
Warriors: Once a lion becomes fully grown at 2 yrs old they get their warrior names. These can be anything really. For example RavenKit becomes RavenPaw and then RavenWing, BranchtKit becomes BranchPaw then BranchHeart, or FireKit becomes FirePaw then FirePelt. These lions protect and hunt for the pride. Some may even become queens and care for the young.
Star: Star is a unique name reserved for the leader/king. Once a lion becomes king they gain the name of Star. With this names comes the responsibility to take care of and lead the pride. It is the kings responsibility to make sure nothing happens to the pride and that every belly is filled. The name star is added to the end of the names Like Kit or Paw. For example BranchStar, RavenStar. or FireStar would be names of Kings/Leaders.
