The History of Sundown Pride

Sundown Pride was founded by Pigatua. Much of the pride continues to be made up of his descendants. He was known for being protective of his territory towards outsiders, but kind and loving to his pridemates. His primary mate and queen was a primordial lioness hailing from the far-off mountain territories by the name of Coldfinder. Together the two had four daughters. Their first litter consisted of Storm, a mossy-green lioness, and their second gave them Brisk, Twist and Tear. Pigatua was also known for adopting cubs thrown out of other prides. His adopted cubs include Bean and Frost.

Under Pigatua’s leadership, Sundown Pride made their home in the flat savanna grasslands. He eventually retired, and was succeeded by his heir, Fannar. Fannar took one of Pigatua’s daughters, Chinwe, as his mate. Around the time Fannar took over, an unusual frost killed off much of the grassland’s flora, and he chose to have the pride migrate to find warmer hunting grounds. For a period of time, the pride lived on a beach at the edge of a desert, traveling long distances to meet with other prides. However, the climate was harsh for the pride’s primals, and they relocated to a tundra climate at the base of the mountains the pride’s first queen hailed from.
Fannar’s eldest daughter is a primal lioness named Penny, who’s mother is the eldest daughter of his predecessor. He and Chinwe only ever had one successful litter, resulting in their daughter, Moonrise, and their son, Char. Char declined the opportunity of becoming his father’s successor, leading to the position instead being given to Fannar’s granddaughter, Cricket, and her mate, Icarus. Icarus already had a litter of cubs with an outsider when she became Queen Consort, but Cricket raised Odysseus and Achilles as her own. Nearly all of Cricket’s blood relatives were getting on in years, and many ended up moving to the further reaches of the territory to avoid potential inbreeding.
So far, Cricket has had three biological cubs: Melody and Locust, damed by an albino lioness named Snuh, and Sashi, damed by Rehema, granddamed by the mighty Zafari.
