ℭ𝔲𝔯𝔰𝔢𝔡's Den

It's pouring. The rain against the ridged flooring of the earth below you feels uncomfortable on your massive paws, but you make due with it. You're hungry, and wet. Finding a place to stay will be difficult here, or even making due with finding food at all in this weather. Nonetheless you tread on, trying your best to sniff for any lingering scents the rain didn't wither away already.

After minutes and minutes of nothing but vacant, rocky land you hear the roar of a female. Then a few more, squeaks of cubs afterwards. You couldn't see them in the rain, but you knew they were up ahead. Hesitating, you weigh your options; there could be a pride up ahead, which meant a King was definitely ready to fight to protect his Pride, but you couldn't hear any males around, only the females. This could be your chance to make a Pride of your own. Simply kill the cubs and things would go uphill from there, right? Your confidence develops at this idea, and you continue your way forward until a sharp hiss fills your left ear, and before you could comprehend it a large body bashes your side, both of you sliding against the ground. You try and see what bombarded you, but before you could get up a large paw pins your head to the ground. "Don't move, asshole."

"Asshole?! I'm nothing of the sor-" your words, cut short, as sharp black and red eyes meet your own. Light beamed from their face and flames suffered to stay lit with the rain, but it didn't stop. The lion - or lioness? - looked you up and down before they put their other paw on you, this time between your side and exposed belly, and sunk their claws into you. You roar, fresh pain adding onto the already stinging pour of the rain sent you into a frenzy, wiggling and struggling to escape, but the flaming lion refused to let go, and for several seconds sat watching.

When you finally calm down out of exhaustion, they let go. You take the opportunity to conjure up your remaining strength to get up and attempt a swipe, but they easily move out of the way and tilt their head. "Is that all you've got? Lions like you usually aren't as unfit."

Before you could make a snide remark they shake their head. "Don't talk to me. You're pathetic. Not worth my time. Either you can leave my Pride alone, or I can kill you."

"You won't be killing anyone-"

Lionesses surround you, and the King smirks. "My. The only time I can be proud of you all being so nosy!" Eyes still set on you, they continue. "So, what was that about me not killing you? If I don't do it, they will."

You hesitate, then in a sudden surge of panic you turn and push your way past the lionesses in the way, running with what energy you gained in those moments of helplessness. The last thing you hear puts fear into your heart;

"How rude. Chase after him? Of course you can."
