The peaks and dips of the rippling river glint jubilantly in the starlight. Along the muddy banks, heavy paw prints mark out the path of the great golden king, now lounging deceptively sleepily amongst the reeds. Up the slope away from the water, his queens groom each other while his cubs play on the rocks still hot from the daytime sun. His ears twitch, alert, but he is content and gentle. To him you are a traveller, not a trespasser, and he nods slightly at you as you continue on your way, down the other side of the river.
