Hidden behind towering forests that mother beasts of all natures, wide open plains that stretch for days on end, and dry tundras where the wind whispers secrets too fast to understand there lies a pride of lionesses deep within the mountains. Lead by a mysterious Queen and her four mates. Although the legend of her pride is often overlooked by arrogant Kings and avoided by self-conscious males, lionesses around the globe will tell you her story so you better listen well.

She goes by many names, but those she holds dear call her Mün. She was born with an odd mutation that peppered her pelt with fur as white as snow. In a pride where color is valued above all else she found herself shunned under the orders of an unjust King. As she grew she was desperate to do anything she could to make herself seen, but nothing seemed to work.

The moment she came of age she was removed from the pride. Escorted by a sub-male and left to her own devices. Her anger towards her old King grew and festered, making her wary of them and any of their loyal pride members.

She wandered for days on end with nothing but fear to keep her moving. As she wandered she met lionesses along the way, those who had met a similar fate as her. Chased away, forgotten, perhaps running away on their own. She treated each one to whatever amount of food she had managed to scavenge however small it was and told stories of her travels. She invited them to join her for however long they needed and it wasn’t long before she had a small following with her. Together they learned how to persevere and how to live with no protection from a King required.

She led them through territory after territory, keeping watch and protecting those who needed it as they searched for a place to call home. Along the way she found herself particularly fond of a few of the lionesses she traveled with. Although she gave them no special privileges or dared to hold them above the others she secretly worshiped them more than the rest. But, alas, the story of her and her four mates is another tale.

Our Queens legacy continues as she leads her growing pride far past the territories of most lions, past never touched forests and across ever stretching planes. Finally she stumbled upon a large mountain covered in shrubbery of all colors. Caves yawned open at the base and large tunnels ran through the inside. A huge waterfall, which is told to reflect golden in the sunlight, gushes from the top of the sky-piercing mountain and hides the caves from plain sight. The Golden Mountain she called it.

It is said the caves are lined with glimmering gems and bioluminescent life, that the water from the waterfall grants good health and long life, that the sky itself is always clear, and that each and every sunrise and sunset paints the area in a pink and golden haze. A paradise for the lost and the weary, and a home for lionesses of all kinds.

Mün rules her pride with a firm but fair paw. She treats everyone with the highest respect unless they prove they don’t deserve it. Her mates and her easily run the territory together. Of course each lioness is given a part to play, something small in return for a harmonious existence, such as bringing water to the injured or cleaning the pelts of the elders. They’re tucked away from the violence and pressure. A place to be free.

Rumors are spread from lioness to lioness. A place to be free of burden and do whatever you wish. A place lionesses can run away to and never have to worry again. A place run by Queens just like themselves, who understand their struggles.

Legend says that if you travel north for four days and four nights that one of Müns mates will find you. If you seek a home or a place to rest she will bring you to their glorious mountain and you may stay for as long as you wish.

Of course, this is just a myth, a story told to fuel the hearts of mistreated lionesses and the imaginations of rebellious adolescents. Just a myth…right?
