Snakebird's Den

Step carefully around the thorns, mind the asps which wait within. Brave the strangely salty river, and venture through the forest so thick that daylight will not reach you; and perhaps you will make it to the angel’s pride. They will send an entourage the moment they sense you step across the borders, and you will be judged before the pride. Your intentions scrutinized, every sin exposed to the angel which guards these lands. You will be accepted, or denied. Denial is met with the jury of claws and the judgment of teeth, while acceptance is greeted by soft brushes of feathers and tails. Should you leave, you will be remembered as family.

The lions here are warped by the divinity around them, magic pumping through their veins, blessed by the angel to appear or have abilities different than the average lion, each one unique in their blessing. They are avian in behavior and origin, not birthed but hatched from glowing eggs. Their dens are in the trunks of magnificent trees which grow only within their territory, decorated with shiny baubles and made comfortable with mosses and down. All are named for a bird, as is the wish of the angel, who rules over the sky, named when they sing for the first time.
