I miss the old me. The person who did whatever they wanted without fear of failure or an overwhelming dread to try something new. I miss the old me. The girl who worked hard, smiled big, and reached for the stars. The kid who was creative and loved to read and write, sing and shine.

But at the same time, I don't miss the old me. The girl who spent hours hiding away as her parents fought, the child who strived for her father's attention but never got it. The kid who was so naïve that they didn't realize that no one liked her.

The old me and the present me are one in the same: there is only one difference. The old me still thinks that what is happening is normal and okay. The present me knows better now. Ignorance truly is bliss.
