The Hidden Sanctuary
|Everyone in the land had heard the story of a fairly known, but not very well acquainted pride, the one known as RavenRunner. This pride had been rumored within the lands for years, but had never been found, and yet, there is always new evidence of the pride being discovered daily. Banners made by the pride hung in deep underground caves, armor bearing the prides sigil, it's impossible to say the pride didn't exist at some point in the past at least.|
|The stories say the pride was once a home to many, known to all prides, but something went horribly wrong. One day, A pride unknown to anyone in the land appeared, and almost immediately started war with the prides, sending all into a panic, all except the lions of RavenRunner, who swore to defeat the enemy pride, and bring peace back to the land. But once the war was won, the pride was nowhere to be found, all that remained of both prides, were the crowns of their leaders laying side by side.|
|Some say the prides were allies, and had faked the war from the start, others say the gods disliked the damage the war had done to the land, and had ended them all, some even say the stories aren't even real. The truth is, nobody really knows what happened to the pride, not even the prides that were closest with them. In modern days, the lions of RavenRunner are seen as saviors of the savanna, whose stories are told to cubs through their entire lives.|
|The pride knew of the stories now, they knew of the rumors, but they never decided to speak up, and present themselves to the world, living deep underground, in a system of tunnels that lead to almost every trading post you can think of. The thing was, the pride weren't heroes at all. During the war all those years ago, the leaders of the prides weren't trying to end each others lives, but had fallen for each other, and decided to combine the prides in union, however, the RavenRunners knew that the prides would hate them for this, so they made a plan.|
|All in one night, the prides left their homes, traveling far from the place they once knew, traveling to a new home for themselves. The prides worked as one to create an elaborate system of tunnels, caves, and dens, where they would call home. They went to markets yes, and continued with trade, but not as the RavenRunners, but as simple caravans of lions, living peaceful lives of travel. They now call themselves The Hidden Sanctuary, a place where lions of all shapes, colors, sizes, and species can live in harmony with one another.|
|The pride now lives with two or more leaders, known as the prides monarch and the prides ruler(s). The one raised by the previous rulers being the monarch, and the one(s) who gained the monarch's heart in marriage being the ruler(s). This is the way the pride has lived for centuries, never changing. The next in line for the throne being decided not by age, but by skill, smarts, and strength.|
