‘A rather normal pride with many adolescents and kits all whom admire their king. A reddish lion who has lost sight in one eye. He is the father of basically any lion born here. And the only one with an odd name but we will never ask why. It’s a rather beautiful territory in the savanna! And there happens to be a lake nearby of which our own king helped clean! Our den rests below an old tree it’s roots forming the walls. The den floor is lined with moss along with vines hanging down. It’s so different from what’s outside of it and we know our king provided it all! The land outside our home is vast and flat except for a nearby area littered with shrubs and easy prey! We don’t hunt there as that’s where the cubs train and frankly it’s easier to move quickly in there if your smaller. We tend to pick up cubs from the giving tree the king usually comes home with two a day! Our king is sometimes called sinister, and frankly I know why. I will always smile for everyone else but I know all of our prides flaws and secrets. I know how the king was once affectionate and kind to ChestnutFur. I know how he goes to the lake to wash off the blood after he goes away. I know how he acts admirable in front of the cubs. I know that now that my cub has weaned I’m useless. I know by the way he looks at me that I won’t be here much longer… I know that some of the pride is beginning to catch on… to figure it out… Im sad that I will leave my cub behind but I know, my best friend will care for them.

“I was one of the Cubs that the king brought home. Well technically I was an adolescent but it’s easier to say cub. I was the second one he ever brought back at that time he was scared ‘their wouldn’t be enough space.’ Pft! Wish you would have thought about that now! You can barely walk without running into a cub! Their sweet but TawnyKit keeps stepping on me when I sleep- they said she wasn’t blind but I’m not so sure about that! Their is two other males here who aren’t cubs. CrimsonPaw and ShiningRain. ShiningRain is new here and his main task is to train me. When I was younger I thought I would be the next king but I guess that’s big ambitions for now. It gets boring here and it’s not like I can play with CrimsonPaw! He’s so arrogant and self absorbed! He practically prances around and only speaks of two lions! Number one, Himself! Number two, The king when he is trying to suck up! Due to that I find my fun in pouncing on visitors! It’s gives some thrill to this! ChestnutFur used to yell at me all the time for it and scold me afterwards as one of her cubs made faces! Now-… things have kinda changed? She just sits there or cares for the cubs and I know that’s important and all but…? She used to be so fun? I’ve realized once your an adolescent, you no longer get the shield a cub has. You see everything they hid before, you see the world… I dreamed for that for so long but now? All that’s in my world are patrols, tireless cubs, and the smell of blood in the lake when I go and get a drink. It surprises me no one else smelled it… except for WheatField. She knew a lot and she was kind to. She wouldn’t share everything but if i knew something we would talk about it. In some ways, she was the mother I never had? But that’s all the past. Now OatTree yells at me instead of ChestnutFur but it doesn't bring the same thrill. She never scolds me after, and she never sound as serious. She sounds like her yell is just a please, as if I could just say no she would just move on… and I don’t have WheatField to talk to anyone either. I just sit alone the reek of blood implanted in my memory. Their is one other spot that smells of blood, beside the den, but with how the grass is flattened and slightly torn I just assume it’s the kings favorite spot. I’m guessing I might be replaced at some point when I’m older? That’s fine. Hey maybe one day I can find WheatField? | I’m full grown now. I guess the plan wasn’t to get rid of me? I’m now BeetleMane, TaintedPaw who was the same age as me is now TaintedWaters. It feels weird but I guess that’s reality now. | I’m leaving this place soon… at least I got to meet the new cubs before I leave? Maybe I’ll see WheatField again? I doubt it… you know… the grass in that spot has propped back up. I know what happened there I just don’t want to accept it?… I’m leaving, I’ll be safe from all of this. I just hope everyone else makes it out okay? I hope something changes. For them.”
