THE GOLDEN GARDEN

To the south and the west are thick rainforests that stand tall, as they take joy in reaching for the sky. To the north are the shrublands, reaching towards the horizon as they hold their roots deep. To the west rests a large watering hole, promising sanctuary, yet sometimes risk. And in the center of it all is a sunken caldera, home to the pride 'Golden Garden'. Many elders have always brought stories of how the pride earned its name, for the rim of the caldera are rocks that had been polished in a dusted golden hue. One would think its innards would be empty, or mere water, but instead it houses grasslands and trees in its center, dancing with life as a refuge to its residents.

Here in the rocky caldera, the kings of old had strung together a sense of seclusion and mystery for the pride, but with good reason. One must never sink too deep, though, for there is truths amongst the many stories..and some truths are best to remain buried.

When one delves into its depths, they are greeted by great plains with toothbrush trees and small groupings of wild date palms scattered about here and there. But as one explores the bowl of the caldera itself, they can occasionally find small, clean water sources, and eventually the pride itself.

The Ranks

Within the pride are your typical ranks: the King is usually the one leading the pride, making decisions and the like. Despite what one thinks, though, the title is more gender-neutral, which allows lionesses to take the crown, as long as they have the makings.

Afterward is the Consorts, who are typically the nannies and favored lionesses of the pride. Though, if one earns enough favor and respect, she may end up being the 'Queen' who stands as the most favored mate..or even a co-ruler.

From there are the Hunters. with there usually being a Chief Hunter amongst them. They are the ones that make up the bulk of the pride, serving as the ones to bring home the food and patrol the caldera for anything suspicious.
