"Welcome, traveler."

After a long, tiring walk through luscious fields of grass, a plain of roses greets you with their signature delicious scent. With the sweet aroma filling the air, you don't see the swipe coming. Waking up in a confused daze, your clouded vision quickly adjusting to the bright sunlight. Standing over you is a snarling white adolescent lion with a light pink and yellow mane. Scrambling to get to your paws, you discover he's actually pink, yellow, and purple.. only with the ticked piebald mutation. Behind him is a pretty red-pink lioness with white spots. She growls as the male confronts you.

"You! What are you doing in my kingdom? Do you not know these roses are sacred to the overseer of this land?"

You shake your head desperately. These lions look strong. If that male was not the pride's leader, then just how much trouble are you in when he gets here?

"I am no threat to you or your 'Kingdom.’ I did not know of your special flowers. I've travelled a long way, looking for a new pride to call my own."

The pair go silent for a minute.

"Well.. Welcome, traveler. I am Overseer-in-training Orchid. This is Duchess Rose. Come, now, lone one."

"There are some things you need to know before you join, lone
one. For example, how our systems work and how we came to be. You see, this is not a simple pride, but a kingdom! I shall start from the beginning."

THE BEGINNING
"You already know most of the story, with Bast, Anubis, and Seth. Consider how long they reigned. Take that, and times it by ten. This is when we begin. A long, long time ago, a lone lion and his mate came across a singular rose. The lioness, supposedly named 'Rose' took this as a sign, for her namesake was in the very middle of an enormous patch of grass, filled richly with all sorts of prey and even more lonely lions and lionesses. Rose's partner, Tetinou (Tet-E-n-U) cared not for the rose, but for all the pretty lionesses waiting to be claimed. The two had interest for each other no more. However, they had to stay together to create a pride. Tetinou got an idea from their old pride, based on the legends of human kingdoms. Rose wanted power though. She knew that if she was no longer his mate, she wouldn’t be able to nurture her precious rose. So, she proposed the ‘Overseer’ role. Where the monarch was just the representative, not the mate of the leader. Tetinou agreed, and so on.”

THE BREAK
“Not too long ago, the Overseer refused to train a learner, nor appoint a Monarch or a Healer. The lionesses, angry with his decision, took any willing lions and drove the overseer out. Naturally, his son was the only lion that knew how everything worked. The lionesses did not want him as the overseer, so formed their own pride until he came back with a good-natured, trained male to lead them. For years, there was no sign of the ‘wandering son.’ They began to lose hope. Before long, there weren’t as many lionesses left waiting. Wether left or starved, they were losing numbers fast. Then, finally, a mutated young male came into the now bright, colourful rosed territory with a claim to the kingdom left abandoned, sent by his mentor, the wandering son. All lionesses left were skeptical, then welcoming.”

NOW
“Flitter, a sign from the three gods due to his having a mutation, has chosen the royal family, began teaching another mutated Overseer, and has found a suitable healer for his kingdom. Actually related to Rose herself, he adores the beautiful flowers his lions and lionesses reside in, building up their numbers as he does his kingdom.”
