They say heaven is a city of gold, a kingdom of clouds, a place where wings unfurl and time unravels. But that’s not what it is. Not really.

Heaven is a field.

Not just one—endless ones. Rows and rows of tall, waving grasses. Fields that stretch farther than your eyes can carry, farther than the part of you that still tries to count or understand. Miles folding into miles, in every direction. No walls. No end.

The sun is always up. But not in the way it is at noon back home, sharp and glaring. Here, the light is soft and generous, like it wants to stay with you. It leans on your shoulders like an old friend. It touches every blade of grass with the patience of eternity.

There’s no night. Not because night is bad, but because it’s simply not needed. Nothing needs to be hidden anymore. Nothing needs to rest from sorrow.

There is a smell in the air—thin and warm, not sweet, not sharp. Just familiar. Like a blanket pulled from an attic. Like books with notes in the margins. Like the space just before a song begins—the silence you know will carry melody. It smells like something from before you were born, or maybe just after. It smells like a place you've never been but already miss.

That’s when you realize: you have been here. Maybe not with your feet. But in your dreams. In your longings. In the way you paused in that quiet moment on a road trip and didn’t know why your chest ached. In that one summer evening when the light lingered too long and the world felt paused just for you.

This is the place your soul sketched blindly when it ached for peace. The place every prayer half-described. It’s not a reward—it’s a return. Not a prize for the pious, but a home for the homesick.

There are no signs. No instructions. You simply walk.

And as you walk, you realize something else. You are not alone. There are others, just beyond the next swell of the land. Not rushing, not calling out. Just walking too, like they know the fields have no wrong direction. Some walk beside you, wordless. Some touch your arm gently, as if to say, “Yes, this is it.”

There is no hunger. No fear. Not even joy as you once knew it—just a fullness that doesn’t need a name.

Heaven is not far away. It’s not after or beyond.

It’s the field you’ve always known but could never quite reach—until now.
