The founders, Duskstep and his mate, Sandviper, made their home in an abandoned burrow. They had since dug it out more as their pride had grown.

After the founding king was found dead at the border, Dazzlestrike had been pushed forward to take the mantle. With no guidance on kingship, and only the lioness Vulture's influence, the arrogant prince was now facing the reality that he was not ready

Dazzlestrike had become a worthy and honorable leader in his more than a decade of leading. But with the drought and fires came an inferno, driving the Pride from their founding lands that the Pride had thrived in for almost three decades. Uncertain of the future in an already uncertain time, the Pride now wanders in search of a new home. Vulture looms like a shadow at his heels, watching and waiting to give judgement, the no longer young king struggling beneath the weight of an entire Pride depending on and looking to him to save them. With his uncle dead of old age and the new leader of his uncle's Pride unwilling to grant them asylum, he cannot even turn to the former pride leader's brother for help.

With the passing of Dazzlestrike, Dazzlestorm (naming himself after his predecessor) was left the leader of the Dusk Pride. Leading the nomadic pride, he has become colder to outsiders than either of his predecessors, putting his Pride above all else. A nomadic life is a difficult one, and so he has become a leader harsh enough to get through. To his Pride members, he is loving and kind. To all else, they speak only of a cruel and evil lion who is not to be crossed, a scourge to all lands he travels through. Secretly dreaming of being able to follow in his predecessors' pawsteps when the time comes for his Pride to finally settle, glimmers of his true nature occasionally shine through, unwilling to kill young, even those of other species.

How sad, that even he does not live up to the lioness Vulture's ambitions.

After years of being a nomadic pride, finally they find a new home in the ramshackle remnants of an old and abandoned human village. At long last, these lost wanderers can finally rest. Dazzlestorm has finally delivered on his promise to his predecessor to guide the pride to a new home. As he rests his aging body in the shade and watches cubs and adols who have only ever known a difficult life finally play and have a place to call home, he finally feels content.

But for Vulture, a life of peace and safety is not enough. There is only the strive for more, more, more.

Many have reigned before you, and many more will reign long after you are gone. But the here and now is in your paws, Dazzlecloud. What will you do with it?

To the young king, beneath the cold eyes of Vulture and his predecessor, Dazzlestorm, and beneath the watchful stars of those that came before, this is a question the hesitant young king does not yet have an answer for.
