Pride of the Frost-Bitten Eclipse

The Pride of the Frost-Bitten Eclipse is one bathed in a bed of crimson that has stained the mountain ranges for decades. Originally a lone group of lionesses, having founded a home for themselves within ice caverns and caves, they were eventually captured and conquered by a lion with a name unsuspecting of their nature, Cupcakes. They were cruel and brutal, and with haste, they'd challenge and take the life of their pre-selected leader, a Melanistic maned lioness that had lived for generations. Slain and dishonored when her pelt was stripped from her carcass, her soul never found rest, following a pattern for Cupcake's victims, they'd stick around as a whisper, constantly furious and praying on their downfall.

Though the lionesses of the inherited pride bowed to Cupcakes' will, it did little to curve their bloodlust. Cupcakes would breed constantly and consistently, resulting in a plethora of cubs. Any cubs deemed "ugly" or "too plain" would be slaughtered the day they were born, their mother's helpless to defend the little morsels, lest she herself faced a wrath far worse than simply death. The lionesses would band together, and at times attempted to defend themselves and their cubs, but these lionesses would find themselves picked off one by one, disappearing- in the best case scenarios- under strange circumstances, while other girls were slain right in Cupcakes' own den. Over the years, the tally grew high, and the whispers grew frequent and constant. Their power flushed as Cupcakes' waned, and when they were around 11 years old, the lionesses as well as the whispers struck out fiercely.

Cupcakes was overpowered after the whispers spawned the Frozen eclipse that rattled Cupcakes from their senses. Horrified by this strange occurrence, Cupcakes had made an effort to flee, but every lioness they'd harmed and stolen from lay in wait along the outskirts of the territory. Chosen and drawn to the pride by these whispers, it was Weeping Velvet (originally just Custard) herself who struck the killing blow- a daughter killing her parent, blood spilling blood for the sake of making up for the losses they'd already spent years digging trenches into.

Custard would rename herself Weeping Velvet Custard, keeping the name Cupcakes had given her as a cub as a reminder of her heritage, and what she was capable of if she ever faltered and failed. Velvet herself, from birth, has been tortured and frightened by sights of the dead, capable of seeing the whispers when no other lion possessed such power. She could faintly hear their cries at night, and would watch them paw around their mother's, as though missing the warmth and security of life. Velvet, heart-broken by this, chose to honor them with her name-sake, and with taking control over Cupcakes' pride, killing them, she'd earn the praise and admiration of their pride, rising to the ranks and being praised for her strength and passion alone, rather than being forced to do so before.

Though Weeping Velvet has made an effort to make up for past mistakes, it seems as though her former mentor and parent has other plans in store. As a whisper, and a powerful one at that, Cupcakes has presented the ability to take over Weeping's mind, controlling and "posessing" Her to some degree, and leaving her completely unknowledgable about wrong-doings following brutal actions. She's become a recluse after lionesses have reported foul deeds from her, with young girls growing to fear her ever-shifting, bipolar esque personality the more she acts. Weeping Velvet, though unsure about what's becoming of her, has made an effort regardless to shield her pride from pain and misery anyway she can. Weeping Velvet usually travels alone, patrolling the endless territories and searching for whispers of lion spirits to give her respects to, and perhaps, one day, she'll find what she's seeking, a whisper who can bring her some understanding to her circumstances, and help her control these brutal, violent tendencies passed down from her parent.
