The pride was growing in numbers and resources by the time Externus was born. The son of Jumma, the blinded king that had ruled the pride for over a decade. And his mother Rift, and oddly fanged lioness full of spite and spark. Externus was born with a single litter mate, a brother, who was consistently envious of the future kingโs attention and intelligence.
As they grew up together they would often spar and patrol with the sub-males. During this time the nights were dangerous and unpredictable which lead to many unexpected attacks. Vicious creatures of all kinds foaming at the mouth, limbs in shambles and bodies in complete disorder. The pride had to defend itself from a hoard one cold morningโ leading to the death of Externusโs brother during the warm sunrise.
Externus, devastated by his loss, took it upon himself to learn about higher beings amongst other prides and territories, in hopes of ensuring his brothers soul was at peace. He came to discover that some lions had the ability to summon these other beings. Disturbed by what he had seen and committed already to get to that point, there was no hesitation when he was offered a summoning. Of course, it did not go according to plan.
Externus now leads the pride with an entity attached to him. It whispers, speaks and influences him. There is no ill intentions from the entity, however. Until the pride or Externus is in critical danger the being respects enough not to possess himโ but will if it is deemed necessary. He follows his fathers footsteps and often takes in odd and neglected cubs; Abominations, as heโs heard some prides call them.
