I was thinking and if exploring was more interactive, maybe it would be a bit more interesting! Maybe things that would make it like a point and click adventure. I'm not much of a game designer myself, but if some of you guys are, maybe you could give me some more ideas and I'll add them to this post as they're added.

IdeaDescription
Path ChoosingIt's pretty self explanatory, but it could be like a luck thing. One path would lead you to an item or beetles, and another could lead to an enemy or just nothing at all. Maybe it could even lead you to an area that you've already accessed.
More OptionsThings like cubs, hornbills, and dung would have more options.
Scent FollowingYou'd be able to pick up scents and follow them! Lionesses in heat, prey, and other things you'd be able to track down and claim or your own, if you don't loose the scent.

Hmm, I don't really like the idea; I enjoy exploring the way it is now, and you're idea is. . a little strange to me. I've played a game where you did that before and it was rather awkward, and I really don't like the fact that you'd be *forced* to fight an NPC or something of another.

Strange; it doesn't really seem like something that would be apart of this kind of game.
And awkward; on the game I've played that has it, it wasn't very fun and it seemed out of place, it didn't go very well with how the game was played.

@Roddy : You have to remember, this game is in it's beginning stages. Other things, such as hunting and sub male patrolling, can be improved in a way that would make the game flow much more easily.

Yes, I know this, but your idea just seems out of place for this kind of game, and how it is played. This idea is what I am talking about. Not hunting and patrolling.

I agree with Roddy, it doesn't have the 'feel' of the rest of the game. Maybe something more like... I dunno, being able to wander into a nearby area, even one you'd be too low a level for on the map? Or having more encounters with more options (like the scat, or the warthog, or the hornbill).

^ Wandering into an area you don't have the level for wouldn't make much sense. But more options sounds like a good idea. I still like the idea of something of the point and click variety.

Why are you guys being so negative? You actually enjoy things like the timon and pumbaa event being completely up to dumb luck? Explore definitely gets dull after you've been to an area hundreds of times, and it should definitely be more like an animal walking and making choices and less like an amusement park ride. I think path-choosing was originally supposed to be part of Explore when it was revamped last year (I saw it in some beta screenshots), and with the right interface, it would be awesome. I've always had the idea also that you could maybe "sniff" in different directions and follow the scent of whatever you're looking for (prey, lionesses, specific items).

Um, i never said anything about the event; I was just stating that his/her idea doesn't go with the game but oookkay, nor was I being negative. I was stating my own opinion, but thanks.

And I actually hated the event quiet, having spent 400sb and 4gb to just get my energy up and still found nothing.
