Whenever I battle an NPC, it seems to be that the fight is won based off lucky button mashing. Swipe and Bite seem to do the same amount of damage regardless of enemy, not to mention the chance of Roar and Flee working always seem to be up in the air and not a set thing. Just a bunch of mindless choosing in hopes of winning a fight.

What I'm proposing is this.

I suggest that our options to fight are affected SLIGHTLY by stats. By slightly I mean you get an increase in the chance of it hitting as well as damage dealt, but this increase doesn't mean you will always hit, nor does it mean you will always do lots of damage. After all, these aren't super lions. It would be worked out like so:

Roar -- The chance of this working and scaring off your enemy would be affected by Stamina seeing as you need to be able to hold out your manly roar long enough to frighten them off.

Swipe -- The chance of this doing more damage is affected by Speed seeing as you need to quickly move in to hit your prey.

Bite -- The chance of this doing more damage is affected by Strength seeing as you need powerful jaw muscles to break through skin and hold on.

Flee -- The chance of this working and you being able to escape is affected by Agility seeing as you need to quickly turn and run.

Accuracy -- This is increased and affected by Smarts/Skill seeing as you need to be able to decide and tell where to hit/when to hit/where weak points are.

These are just the basics I have, but I feel it would give more of a point to the fights rather than having them be random.

This makes a lot of sense. However, I'd like to suggest the following be considered in addition:

Roar- is there a way to code it to make it perhaps slightly more effective based on impressiveness level? After all, the more impressive the lion, the more likely the roar would be to frighten the enemy.

Flee - Would like to see speed factored into the calculations along with agility, and smarts/skill could boost the chance of success somewhat too (less so than speed and agility, but enough to reflect an increased chance to find hiding spots.)

The NPC battle is going to be revamped according to the devs. It will look differently, and the attacks will be based on stats mainly.

I love the suggestions, GG.

And that's awesome to hear, Axel! I'd love to see how that works out, though that is probably a bit of trouble for my poor boy since he's a roll and has lots of years before he gets retired (not even 5 yet!).

I'm okay with the challenge though!
