Lion Help

Stats
You can view your lion’s stats on his page. Your lion has the following stats: strength, stamina, agility, speed, smarts, and skill. With the exception of skill, all of these stats can be improved through leveling up your lion, sharpening your lion’s claws, or through consuming food. Skill may be increased by attacking other lions with the “skill” option selected. The stat section also shows how many cubs your lion has sired.
Currents
The “Currents” section of the page shows what your lion’s current age, hunger, energy, and impression are. See above for more information about these stats.
Experience
The “Experience” section of your lion’s page shows his current level, experience, experience to level (“EXP to level”) and experience needed to level up. When it comes time to advance your lion’s level, you can do so here.
Heritage
If your lion has any heritage, this is the place to view it in. Click on “View Heritage” to see your lion’s lineage. If they don’t have any, look forward to starting a family line!
Appearance
You can check on the details of your lion’s appearance here, including his base color, eye color, mane type, mane color, and marking type and percentage. You can also click on the customise link to customize your lion for GB!
Decoration
This section shows you which, if any, decorations are currently equipped to your lion. To un-equip them, simply click the item name in that section and the item should pop back in your Hoard!
Biography
Have a story or notes about your lion you’d like to add to his page? Add them here, but note that they are visible to anyone viewing your lion’s page, and must abide to the TOS of LioDen.

Territtory

You will start off with a territory size of 2 - this means you can have up to 2 lionesses in your territory. You will not be able to claim any new lionesses if you already have a full pride.
You will be able to breed new cubs, but keep in mind that if you have more lionesses and cubs than what your territory allows, you will not be able to claim any more lionesses.

You can purchase territory (or fight for it) for up to 20 territory spaces. After that, you can only fight for territory up until 40 spaces. Once you've hit the attack limit of 40 territory, you have to purchase the rest with Golden Beetles ("GB"). The amount of territory you can buy after that point is unlimited.

Lion Deaths

Female Lion will die between 15-16 Years
When your lion reaches 15 years of age, he will die and need to pass on his legacy. You can either choose one of your current male cubs (sub-males) to take over for him, or you may generate a new lion. You will be given the choice to keep your cub’s looks or to keep your previous lion’s appearance.
If your lion has been customized, you will be given the option to keep the customization for the new lion, or change the image based on the new roll.
Your stats, level and progress on your old lion will be stored, but you will start over again with your new cub, inheriting the cub's stats and level. However, your new lion if you choose not to use a cub will start off with all 5 stats like normal.

Trading

You are able to trade GB, SB, lionesses, cubs, items and carcasses via the Trading Center, found by going to "Explore" at the top of the site under the banner, and then down to "Trading Center".

You can choose to either create a trade that other members may bid on, much like an auction, or you can choose to transfer an item or lion/lioness to another member directly by clicking "Transfer Instead?" at the top right corner of the page.

Cubs can't be traded until they reach one year of age, and if you attempt to trade a lioness that has young cubs, the cubs will go with her! All decoration items on a lion will go with it as well, so keep this in mind.

If you have any further questions that have not been answered here, please consult the modbox found at the bottom of the site, or search through the "I'm Lost" section of the forums! It may have already been answered there.

Your Pride (and Joy)

Your lionesses are used primarily for two things - hunting and providing cubs. You can see an overview of them from your Den.

You should interact with your lionesses and cubs daily to keep them happy, and make sure to feed them using food from your Hoard. If they reach 0% in hunger, or have gone 5 days without interaction, then they will leave your pride and you cannot get them back! Lionesses with cubs will take them with her if she leaves.

Getting Lionesses
The main way to gain lionesses for your pride is through the explore feature, which you can locate by clicking “Explore” in the navigation bar at the top of the site, and then clicking on one of the four explore areas (Water Hole, Savannah, Marshlands, or Dry River Canyon). While exploring, an event may come up that asks if you want to claim a lioness. If you click on the button that asks “claim lioness,” you will be taken to the page for claiming this lioness. Here, you can view your potential lioness and see your options to impress her. There is also an option to leave. If your attempts are successful, your lioness will appear in your Den as “Newly Claimed Lioness.” Congratulations; she’s yours!
You may also buy lionesses from other players or create your own custom lioness at the Oasis.
Age
Lionesses will live between 15 or 16 years, though they will die for certain at 16. Adolescents mature at two years of age, so make sure you have a den slot or sub slot (for males) ready for them at at least 1.11 years of age, or else they will run away if there is no slot ready!
Female cubs are able to begin hunting at two years of age. Male cubs differ from their female counterparts, they will be automatically chased from the pride when they turn 2 years old unless you choose one to be your pride's sub-male. See the "Lion Death" section for more information on that.
Levels and Stats
Your lionesses, like your lion, have levels. They gain experience and stats through hunting; after all, the more you do something, the better you become at it! You can monitor their experience and progress towards the next level on their page. Once their experience bar fills, you can level them up. Leveling up increases your lioness’ chance of having a successful hunt, so level them up when you can.
Cubs start at level 1 and cannot level up until they are grown, but they do inherit stats.
Toys and food also have a random chance to increase your lioness’s or cub’s stats.
Hunting
You can send your lionesses off to hunt for you by clicking on “Explore,” then on “Hunting Grounds.” There, you will see a map. Click the map to place your lionesses. You may place up to 5 lionesses per hunt and can select which lionesses to place from a drop down.
After you send your lionesses off to hunt, you must wait 15 minutes to see results. If you’re impatient, you can pay 1 GB to speed up the hunt. Once 15 minutes have passed, you can check back on the page to see which, if any, lionesses were successful, what they bought back (if anything), what stats they improved, and how much experience they gained.
You have to give your lionesses 1 hour’s rest before they can hunt again. Luckily, the 15 minutes you already waited count towards this hour. You can monitor how much time you have left on the hunting page.
Breeding
Lionesses come into heat roughly every 9 days and remain in heat for 3 days. During this time, you may breed your lion to them to produce cubs. In order to breed, a lioness must be over the age of 2, have a mood of at least 80%, and not be more than 50% hungry. Lionesses are pregnant for 3 days, but take care to keep their hunger below 50% or else the cubs may be stillborn.
A lioness needs 20 days after giving birth to recover before she can breed again. After the 20 days have passed, she will immediately come back into heat and may be bred again.
Feeding Your Pride
Your lionesses and cubs over the age of 4 months will need to be fed. You can feed them by going to your Hoard and clicking on a food item, like a zebra carcass or a human leg. Food items rot after 10 days, so be sure to check on them in your Hoard so they don’t expire. Cubs will nurse for four days after birth and thus, do not need to be fed during this time period.
Amusement
On your lionesses’ and cubs’ pages, you can see their mood level. To increase this, you can either interact with them on their page or play with them via a “toy” item, such as rat skulls or feathers, in your inventory. Both cubs and lionesses need to be amused or they may become bored and leave your pride.

Accounts
How many accounts am I allowed to have?
You can have up to 2 accounts. If you are asking this question, I would recommend that you re-read the TOS, or Terms of Service, which you can locate by scrolling down to the links at the bottom of this page and clicking on TERMS OF SERVICE, in between CONTACT and GAME GUIDE.

How do I get invite codes?
When you first join, you are unable to generate an invite code unless you purchase GB's (Golden Beetles which are $0.50 per Beetle in USD). After your first day (on day two!) you are able to generate 1 code per day, per account by going to your Den and selecting Invitations for Open Alpha. Generate a code, and wala!

How do you add friends?
To add friends, just go to the person's page, and click "Send friend request". The user will have to accept your friend request by going to their page and clicking "View All" under "Your Allies" and accepting or declining. You may also use this tab to block players.

Attacking/Fighting

What is my lion fighting for?
When attacking other lions/players, he has a choice of fighting/attacking them for three reasons - skill, experience, and territory. If attacking NPC (non-playable characters) like the Buffalo or a Cheetah, or an NPC Lion, it is for survival and simply to assist in boosting experience, and to obtain SB (Silver Beetles).

Why should I WANT to fight?
Not only will it increase your lion's stats (and by doing so, chance of winning), but it also increases your lions experience (therefore, higher level!). You can also earn scars from battling NPC's! The point of the game is to become the highest leveled, and most fierce competitor. It's survival of the fittest!

If I attack another lion for territory and win, what happens?
Well, you win territory. If you had 4 territory size prior to the fight, you will now have 5, which means that instead of your lion and 3 lionesses, you can now have your lion and 4 lionesses! Your lion loses 20% energy.

If I attack another lion for skill and win, what happens?
Your lion's skill will increase, but you'll also gain more experience. Your lion loses 20% energy.

If I attack another lion for experience and win, what happens?
Your lion's experience will increase, and he will be closer to getting to his next level! Your lion loses 20% energy.

If I attack another lion for anything, and LOSE, what happens?
You lose 20% of your lion's energy, and gain nothing, but maybe a few experience points (which still helps!)

I have a Quest to slay or fight certain animals. Where can I find them?
THIS thread is a great source where members have come together to compile where they have found certain animals in certain locations while exploring.

Breeding
How long are lionesses pregnant?
A lioness is pregnant for four days.

How long is a lioness in heat for? How often does she go into heat?
After a lioness gives birth, it takes her 20 days to get back in heat. Normally, a lioness goes into heat every 9 days and she stays in heat for 3 days.

Can I breed my lion to a lioness if I have reached the max amount of lions/lionesses on my territory?
Currently, the answer is yes, because cubs do not count toward the territory limit until they are 2 years old. However, if you have exceeded the limit for your territory in lionesses, you are unable to claim another lioness until you have purchased or won more territory.

How do the genetics impact my cubs?
Cubs will take some of the markings and colors of their mother and father. Again, keep in mind, that just because your lion has Heavy Spotting (61%) and Darken Brown (82%) it does not mean that your cub may get BOTH. The cub may simply only get one of the markings, or both.

Claiming Lionesses

Why is my lion always rejected?
He's just not attractive enough. No, I'm just kidding. Actually, its like rolling the dice. It's purely luck, what you select, and whether or not he's appealing to the lioness. If he's not noticeable, he's less likely to actually attract the lioness. Don't get discouraged. He will get plenty of ladies, just take your time when selecting his actions, and remember that you might think your lion deserves his own little harem, but the odds are certainly not in his favor, not in the beginning anyway!

THIS POST is a great source of information and theory from other members.

Are there places that more lionesses are at, like more at the Water Hole than the Temperate Savannah?
This is something that hasn't received a definite answer, but in general consensus, that would be a resounding no. It, again, is just a matter of luck of the draw, percentage set up by the game, etc.

Currency

What is GB?
Golden Beetles. This is a currency that you receive if you donate to keep the game alive. It is a gift from the game for your contribution. Each GB equals $0.50 USD or the equivalent in other country currencies.

What is SB?
Silver Beetles. These are obtained by playing the game, and can be received when out exploring. You receive SB's when you win a fight against an animal. You can also obtain SB's by selling your treasures (or finds while exploring) to the Monkey.

Who is the Monkey?
Well, I'm sure he wouldn't really like the term Monkey, but the Monkey is actually a Mandrill (related to the baboon, but more closely to the drill) that you can sell your items to to receive SB, or you can purchase items from if you were unsuccessful while exploring or simply like to hoard certain items. Wholesale is certainly not retail for this guy. ;P

Can I send SB or GB to other players?
Yes! To do so, you can either transfer it or trade it. To transfer, just go to the Trading Center and click "Transfer instead". To trade it for items, other currency, etc. then just make a trade in the trade center, found under "Explore".

Energy
How often does my Energy increase?
Energy increases by 10% every 15 minutes. Basically, it takes 2 1/2 hours to reach 100% Energy. If your lion is under 60% hunger, your energy regain will be slower, so make sure your male is well fed!

Why does exploring sometimes take 2% instead of 1%?
It's the way the game is coded - but also, realistically, if your lion is covering different terrain, hills, slopes, rocky terrain, moving through brush, etc, there are going to be areas that expend more energy than others.

Does my Energy effect the outcome of fights with other predators and animals while exploring?
No. Whether your Energy is at 2% or at 87%, it doesn't matter. The outcome is purely a result of luck and correct selection of offense or defense.

How much Energy does it take to battle and win against another animal?
It takes 10% of your Energy.

How much Energy does it take to flee?
It takes 5% of your Energy.

Hunting Grounds

Do I need to have five lionesses, or can I just use one to hunt?
You do not NEED five lionesses to hunt. The likelihood of your lionesses returning with a kill, however, lessens if you have less than five lionesses.

How often can I hunt with my lionesses?
You can hunt once per hour.

Once I send my lionesses out to a hunt, how long does it take to know if they've captured anything?
It takes 15 minutes. However, if you have purchased or can purchase GB (Golden Beetles) you are able to use those to have the results of your hunt returned immediately, rather than waiting for the fifteen minutes.

What if I don't want to wait an hour to hunt?
Well, you don't have to! Again, if you have 1 GB or can purchase one, you can go ahead and skip ahead to be able to hunt again. Not only will you skip ahead, but if you haven't received the results of a hunt yet, it will also give you the results, as well.

Longevity, Aging, and Life

How long will my lion live?
Your lion will live until he is 270 days old or 22.5 years old. Each game day is 1 month.

How long will my lioness live?
Your lionesses will until they are 180 days old, or 15 years old. Each game day is 1 month.

If I don't log in, will my lion, lionesses, and cubs still age?
I would think so, but this is another question to be answered at a later date. This cron may run on login, or just updates each day at a certain time.

When does the image for cub change from looking like a cub, to an adult?
Because cubs are not considered as part of the territory count until age 2 years (or 24 days old), I'm going to assume that they do not get adult images until 24 days, as well.

When my lion dies, what happens?
When your lion dies you are given the option to start with an existing cub on your territory, or with a new roll, as you did at the beginning of the game. If you don't have a cub, you will be given the option to re-roll your lion. If your lion is customized, you do get the option to keep the customization.

Will my new lion keep my lion's stats?
No, they will be stored, but you will not start with those same stats. You will start with new stats or the stats that your cub already had, as well as your cub's level.

Can my lionesses get injured and die?
Right now the only time your lioness will die is at 15 years old/180 days old from old age.

What if I don't play with them or feed my lionesses?
You will lose them. They will run away. And you won't be able to get them back.

What happens if I don't login for two weeks; will my lionesses and my lion starve?
TBD.

Statistics

How do the stats for my lioness affect her ability to hunt?
Good question. Currently there is no decisive answer. It could be skill, or a random stat selected per a certain formula. At this time, this has not been defined. Thank you for your curiosity, and as soon as the answer is known, it will be updated here!

Do stats affect the outcome of battles with my lion?
Read answer above.

Are stats taken into consideration when stats are given to a cub at birth?
I would hope so, but again, read answer above.

Sub Males

What are sub males?
Subordinate males are male cubs you have raised, bought, etc. that you can keep full grown, as males leave the pride once they turn 2 years of age.

How do you get a sub male slot?
To get slots, go to your den page, and click the (+) sign next to "Male Slots" and you can buy up to four slots. Your males will automatically fill the slots once they turn 2 years old.

How many sub males can you have?
You can have up to 4 sub males. Two slots cost you 500SB, while the third and fourth slot will cost you GB.

Can sub males breed?
No, sub males cannot breed.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to post in the "I'm Lost" board, message a Helper (users with blue paws), or send in a ticket via the modbox. If you have a question only a mod or admin could answer, please send in a modbox ticket, thanks! :)

Heya! I'm not part of this thread or group, but I did want to answer the last few questions that never seemed to get answered??? Even though they were so long ago? Like, people have questions, I feel terrible just seeing these.

@That One Hypogryff (#50615), To view decor on any lion, scroll down until you are under the 'Appearance' box, the box below will be called 'Equipped Decorations'. If you press that box (or the Hide/Show link), it should open to display the equipped decor. You can temporarily hide decor or remove them there. You can also update the order by changing the number beside the decor, then press the 'update order' button. This can make the decor look nicer by bringing decor to the front or behind other decors.

@BlueStar (light off) (#2477), Yes! You can retire your main male here at the age of 15 years, or he will naturally step down at 16 years. Now, you can keep your handsome main male an extra year as a 'Grandpaw' and get super cute lines when cub training!
When your main male gets older, or when you plan to retire him, make sure you have another male cub you plan on kinging! Also, when naming him, make sure you pick a unique name and name him something you like. You CAN change it later, but it will cost you GB.

@MiniTaylor88 (#67293), Confusing question here, but I will answer all the possible ways I can think of.
- Your main male does not need to be fed to keep him from leaving! He won't leave when hungry, but it does take longer to get energy back if he's hungry!
- To feed any lion, you can go to your 'hoard' (the third tab at the top of the screen), then while in the 'view all' tab in your hoard, press the 'food' tab. There will be all available food!
- To make a lioness go away, you can either avoid feeding her and playing with her, or you can just chase her off! To chase off a lioness go to her page, then scroll to the bottom. There you should find three buttons: 'Chase Off' in gray, 'Kill' in red, and 'Send to Nature Reserve' in green.
Chase off uses no energy and gives others a chance to get your lioness!
Kill uses 5 energy, loses 5 karma. You kill the lioness and she can't be found in the wild.
Send to Nature Reserve uses 5 energy, you gain 5 karma. You send the lioness off to live out her life safe and can't be found in the wild.
If you want to chase a cub, it will allow you to 'abandonn'. This sends the cub to 'The Giving Tree'.

@Blossom - x2Ros Svelte (#74540), I actually don't have an answer to this one? Maybe try to delete it again? If that doesn't work, maybe report it to the modbox. They might be able to help. I know it isn't a huge deal, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

@MistyPawz (#86191), I know you said to ignore, but for everyone else out there wondering, it means you need to protect that cub! You can find certain play items that will add survival points back (I don't have an easy guide for that on hand, sorry!), you can make a lioness a broodmother by scrolling down to her description, opening it, and selecting 'broodmother'. You can only have one per 10 territories and nurturing natured lioness work best, protecting 6 instead of 5 cubs! If you can't have another broodmother and need to protect a cub, you can buy the Hornbill Majordomo from Monkey Business for 200SB!

@Rowanfrost (#91750), Your main male must be at level 16 to enter that area!

Finally, rapid fire round!

@SilverRebel (#113645), @Echo (#148348), and @BurnedOut (#186920), If you don't log in, your lions will be fine! You must 'Roll Over', the picture of the cute little cub that comes up every day, to activate the next day in Lioden! Events won't stop, since they are part of what the people on Lioden are doing, but your lions won't get any hungrier, more bored, and no one will run away, UNLESS they ran away the day before! You have 7 REAL life days to get those lions back, 200SB each, and I bealive that cubs are lost if they run away.
That and cub survival % are the things that will kill lions without your consent.

~

If anyone has anymore question, please feel free to message me them! I will try to answer them as soon as I can!
