So, I'm wondering if I'm the only one who thinks it's a little backwards that I lose 10 energy for winning a fight, but only 5 for having the snot beaten out of me by some hyena.

Surely being beaten up is more exhausting than winning? Winners have adrenaline, and the thrill of victory. Losers get pounded into the dirt.

I know it's a minor thing, but I think it would make more sense if winning a fight while exploring lost me 5 energy, and losing one lost me 10.
