So I've decided that in my free time, I maybe want to start taking commissions and earning a little extra income. I can draw animals... that's about it. I'm shit at drawing humans. But anyway: This is my most recent thing. If all goes well, the commissions will be at least this quality: I'd like to make USD. Not GB or SB! Real money. It took me about 2 weeks worth of spare time to make that, (I work, eat, and do about an hour of pilates each day if I don't get out of work at 11 at night) but if I use most my spare time commissioning, I think I can do something like this in one week... I'd like to make at LEAST $5 for each commission. There's no way I'm taking less than $5. But I dunno, should I ask for more? An extra $5 a week on top of my paycheck isn't MUCH but it's something... Please help! O: 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think you can definitely earn $5 with an example like above, maybe more for something more complicated and perhaps upwards of $8 - $10 dollars on a backgrounded piece with all the latter. I think your style is very favourable, and if you could do a huge variety of animals that's also a big plus. Try out $5 per piece and see how it goes, if you have a lot of commissions come in raise your prices up and up. Hope I helped 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you! <3 I think that sounds about right. /still looking for more opinions though before getting started/ And if any of you have any advice about commissioning please feel free to share. I've done a few commissions for site currency in the past but I'm not really... a pro. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 29/10/15 @ 13:02:09 by Larvirawr (#27485) |

I think you can definitely earn more than $5. You can start with $10 a piece and go from there, maybe? Although I believe lioden may not be the right place to advertise; you may get a couple requests but people here are usually looking to pay site currency for art. Good luck though! Your art is cute. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you! The only sites I really use on a regular basis are Lioden and tumblr... maybe if I can't get sales here I can try seeking out some art communities elsewhere? Idk. -flop- 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'd say you could get $5 easy, I agree with both above...o3o I'm with Dam on the whole "Lioden not being the best place" thing though...unfortunately that is the case and admittedly...I'm one of the people who prefers to use site currency when buying art. I'd suggest possibly using FA (Furaffinity), maybe DeviantART if you dont mind trolls being little bitches all the time, but they're mostly immature little shits who're like 8 or something, just ignore them and they'll get bored and go back to being helicopters or whatever xD 0 players like this post! Haha it's okay, I understand why most people wouldn't want to pay real money on a sim game. ^^ It's a lot easier to part with SB/GB on here than it is to part with cash lol. Hmmmm how can I avoid being scammed though? Should I like put an X on it or something when it's done and give them the real version when they pay? 0 players like this post! Like? To prevent scamming...what I do is- They dont get their art until I get my payment. If I finish it and they still haven't paid- it gets watermarked to holy heck, shown a small preview and once payment is sent, art is sent~ 0 players like this post! Like? |

That's a good idea, the only thing is I get anxious accepting payment before it's even completed. It puts a lot of pressure on me not to fuck up haha. xD I always get worried that I'll screw up, especially since when you do commissions, people have characters with details that may go out of your comfort zone. But I'm more trusting of myself than I am of other people so I may have to accept up-front payment or a system similar to that. 0 players like this post! Like?
